2022 GMC Canyon Denali Loses Standard Wireless Phone Charging

The 2022 GMC Canyon Denali no longer offers standard wireless phone charging. Instead, the premium pickup now offers wireless phone charging as an optional extra.

Wireless phone charging for the 2022 GMC Canyon is tagged with RPO code K4C. Previously, the feature was offered as standard for the 2021 GMC Canyon Denali.

Wireless phone charging is also optional for the 2022 GMC Canyon AT4, but only in conjunction with the Jet Black / Kalahari leather-appointed interior trim, which is tagged with RPO code HVD. Essentially, wireless phone charging is offered for the 2022 GMC Canyon AT4 Leather variant, but not the GMC Canyon Cloth.

In addition to optional wireless phone charging, the 2022 GMC Canyon Denali offers the new Denali Black Edition Package, as GM Authority covered previously. Tagged with RPO code PEF, the Denali Black Edition package adds a variety of aesthetic upgrades to the midsize pickup, including 20-inch aluminum low gloss Black wheels (RPO code RZO), black 5-inch rectangular assist steps (RPO code RVS), a GMC Black Chrome Exhaust Tip (RPO code VTA), and All Weather Floor Liners (RPO code AAK).

The Denali Black Edition Package for the 2022 GMC Canyon Denali is only available in conjunction with the Onyx Black exterior color (RPO code GBA) and the Jet Black interior upholstery colors (RPO code H2X).

Back in June, GM Authority reported that the 2022 GMC Canyon would hit production on August 26th, 2021. The latest GMC Canyon will be produced alongside its corporate cousin, the 2022 Chevy Colorado, at the GM Wentzville in Missouri. Orders for the 2022-model-year pickup opened July 1st.

The 2022 GMC Canyon is likely to be the final model year for the current-generation Colorado and Canyon nameplates prior to the arrival of the all-new  2023-model-year vehicles. When it arrives, the 2023 GMC Canyon is expected to ride on an updated version of the GMT-31XX body-on-frame architecture, and will offer new exterior styling and an overhauled interior.

  1. GM. They wrote the book on decontenting. Paying more for less. Mother Mary made 40.3 mill last year. Let that sink in the next time you consider buying one of GM’s half baked products.

    1. You misspelled Porsche…

This move is to keep moving trucks with the chip shortage, not decontent. It will be back to standard once chip supply is normal.

    2. So tell me Joe what had Mary been doing wrong?…I believe Ford, Honda, VW, & Stellantis would all fire there CEO’s in seconds if they could get Mary aboard!
As an owner of vehicles from different manufacturers..I like my GM vehicles overall the best…I was not loyal to any brand prior to buying a new Silverado a few years ago..since then I bought a new Colorado, a new Canyon, and a Cadillac ….all have been completely flawless….can’t say same for the two Fords , and the Mercedes that those vehicles replaced…I also currently own a Toyota Tacoma…that I will replaced soon most likely with another GMC Canyon….I am not disappointed in Tacoma like I was with the Fords and the Mercedes, it’s just that the GMC is just plain better on fuel and more comfortable to drive and gets much better tire wear and has been completely trouble free?
I think some people just troll other sites to put negative comments in where every they can.

      2. Paul do not buy Colorado or canyon right now wait till the next generation I’m warning you. Those two trucks use the in-house 8-speed transmission and it’s had a lot of issues all the way back to 2015 it’s a hit and miss but look it up. There’s a lot of class action lawsuits about it too the mapping on it it’s pretty crappy it’s just not a good design. In a year or two the next generation will come out and they’ll put their 2.7 turbo in it with the 10-speed which is a hundred times better and you’ll be kicking yourself for not waiting.

        1. I am a home builder and we put 45,000. Miles a year on these trucks
The 2016 Colorado that I had we put 100,000 on it in 2 1/2 years the 2019 canyon has 70,000 miles on it now….both trucks have been completely flawless! My F150 had a broken gas cap door in the first 6 months of its life, the center gear shift cable broke in the first 2 months my guys had to have it towed twice under warranty. The Tacoma is good other then it eats tires and brakes up and gets poor fuel mileage, also does not have as much power compared to the GMC. Take from someone that’s has not been brand loyal to any make and has had different brands….GM vehicles just has held up better for the company.

  2. Joe if you had a choice of a phone adding a phone charger that fits a limited size of phones and holding up production or delivering trucks that are dearly needed you deliver the trucks.

As soon as the chips catch up the charger will be back. Think about that if you are ever in a position of running a large automaker vs just running on on the. Web.

  3. I have wireless phone charging in my 2018 GMC Sierra 2500hd. My phone is to large to fit in it. Completely useless. Waste of a good chip.

  5. If they don’t offer the 3.6 engine as an option for 2023, A portion of sales will be lost other mfgs. Old people don’t like listening ( like me) to the sewing machine….
