The 2022 Chevy Equinox adds four new exterior colors to its palette: Iron Gray Metallic, Cherry Red Tintcoat, Seaglass Blue Metallic, and Blue Glow Metallic. Here’s our first look at the new Blue Glow hue.
Assigned color code GHT and touch-up paint code WA-611G, Blue Glow Metallic is a dark blue hue that expands the color portfolio of the 2022 Chevrolet Equinox, which is comprised of six neutral finishes, one pale blue, and one bold red color. Blue Glow Metallic is also one of two blue hues available for the 2022 model year. The other blue hue is Seaglass Blue Metallic, which is very light compared to the Blue Glow hue.
In total, there are eight available colors for the 2022 Chevy Equinox, including:
- Iridescent Pearl Tricoat
- Silver Ice Metallic
- Summit White
- Mosaic Black Metallic
- Blue Glow Metallic
- Seaglass Blue Metallic
- Iron Gray Metallic
- Cherry Red Tintcoat
The new Blue Glow Metallic color is included in the base price of the 2022 Chevrolet Equinox. It is available in conjunction with all interior color combinations, and with all trim levels.
2022 Chevy Equinox Trim Levels:

2022 Chevy Equinox Interior Color Combinations:

As of this writing, the 2022 Chevy Equinox can already be found at dealers, since the GM CAMI plant in Canada and the GM Ramos Arizpe plant in Mexico have been assembling and shipping the 2022 model to dealers since June 14th, as GM Authority previously reported. However, models in the Blue Glow Metallic exterior color do not seem to be on dealer lots quite yet. Availability varies by dealer, so check with yours for complete details.
Prospective buyers may be interested to know that the 2022 Chevy Equinox receives a refresh, which was originally scheduled for the 2021 model year, but delayed due to complications caused by the Coronavirus pandemic. Changes include new front and rear end styling, small revisions to the cabin, the deletion of the L trim level, new wheel options, a defeat switch for the engine auto stop-start feature, and more.

The Chevy Equinox is the perfect crossover due to its reliability, cost, design, and features. I have a 2009 model and it has been almost perfect except for the speed sensors on the wheels (a supplier problem) which were replaced at no cost by the dealer.
But what prevents this third generation Equinox from perfection is the weak and under powered inline 4 engine. Chevy should have kept the 3.4 L and 3.6 L V6 engines as optional upgrades. Having enough power is much more important than better economy just to try beating the imports.
I have a 2018 1.5 liter. It has plenty of power , averaging 36 miles per gallon, best 47 per computer. It’s not a race car.
But for some people, getting to the Dunkin Donuts drive through 15 seconds
faster is important !
Sadly the interior colors though. Black, black and more black because even with Ash Gray it is black primarily. Come on gm liven it up a bit.
Now they just need to get rid of silver, and add green, yellow, or purple. One thing that I hate about today’s vehicles is how they don’t have color coordinated interiors to match the exterior paint color. My first car was a 1978 Pontiac Bonneville with a forest green type color, and it had a matching green interior.
The new colour choice will make the equinox look sharp for 2022 . GM making colour choices for consumers changing it up from the boring easy to pick black and white .
Now, let’s see if any dealers will stock anything besides black, Grey, Grey, silver. Silver gray, and white.
For the last 4 years, GM has been giving the ICE customers a NEW COLOR PAINT CHOICE, why they have been pumping $BILLIONS into the non $ money-making EV/AV programs. The RECALLS on the non $MONEY MAKING BOLT took a lot of profit from GM great ICE manufacturing autos. For the next 10 years, I will only be buying some type of ICE autos. My auto purchasing business is open to those who give me the best choices.
Of course GM has a good reason for dropping the 2.0L engine in the 2022 Equinox. But, they will never divulge that reason. Why?
Test drive the Equinox with the 1.5T and the 2.0T and you well be surprised at the difference. Oh, you well have to drive a older model with the 2.0T. The 1.5 is ok for city driving but is lacking for the freeway.
I’ve driven both many times. Yes, the 1.5L is good for the city. But, it doesn’t meet the needs for regular higher speed highway driving. Some drivers prefer that option and GM has removed it from an otherwise highly desirable compact crossover. Why?
Have a 2019 red line with 2.0L and 9 speed absolutely love it
I have ’20 1.5L and have no problem cruising highway at 75mph or merging in to highway speeds. What “needs” are not meet?
Thinking of buying the new 2022 terrain but reading all these comments regarding the 1.5 engine is some say it’s enough for city driving but for highway little under powered I do 60/40 city/Hwy I’m hoping should be sufficient my purpose .Dont need a bigger c u v and I like the look of the new terrain I know the equinox has same 1.5 engine the 2.0 would be nice but that engine is History as my dealers tell me just have to wait and see I guess And hopefully the 1.5 engine won’t disappoint!
You’ll regret a 1.5L unless all you care about is dense stop and go city traffic. Opening a 1.5L up on the highway on the weekend, or just darting around when you want to blow some steam off, its lethargic. I’ve been stuck in more than enough 1.5L nox and terrain rentals. I always pay for the upgrade to something else when I see them on the rental lots.
Thanks for your honesty I’m still thinking about maybe I purchase a used low mileage 2020 Terrain denali with 2.0 l probably better off and won’t be disappointed and save myself a bundle of money
