2022 Buick Enclave Loses Mirror Turn Signal Indicators

The 2022 Buick Enclave no longer includes turn signal indicators integrated within the side mirrors, a departure from prior, 2018-2021 model years that featured integrated turn signal indicators in the mirrors.

DNP Yes Power-adjustable Power-folding Driver-side Yes
DYX Yes Power-adjustable Power-folding Driver-side No

Only the Premier and Avenir trim levels of the 2022 Enclave are actually impacted by this change, since they were the only ones that included the feature in previous model years. As a result of the change, these two trims get a new set of exterior mirrors (RPO code DYX), which are still power-adjustable and power-folding, but no longer have the integrated turn signal indicators.

Meanwhile, the Buick Enclave Essence trim level continue with the same power-adjustable and manual-folding mirrors (RPO code DM8) as used on the 2018-2021 model years, since the Essence trim never featured integrated turn signal indicators to begin with.

And no matter the trim, all 2022 Buick Enclave models feature heated and and driver-side auto-dimming mirrors.

The 2022 Buick Enclave receives a mid-cycle enhancement, otherwise known as an MCE or refresh, consisting of restyled front and rear fascias, wireless Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto, plus the addition of active safety features as standard. Additionally, the base Preferred trim level has been discontinued, bumping the starting price of the large, three row premium crossover to $42,800.

It’s worth noting that GM initially planned the 2022 Enclave refresh for the 2021 model year, but as was the case for several other General Motors vehicles, the COVID-19 pandemic resulted in a delay lasting a single model year.

All 2022 Buick Enclave models sold in North America are built at the GM Lansing Delta Township plant in Michigan and ride on the extended-length GM C1 platform. The 2022 model continues to be powered by the same naturally-aspirated 3.6L V6 LFY gasoline engine as the 2018-2021 model, which produces 310 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque. The atmospheric V6 is paired with GM’s nine-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard while all-wheel drive optional.

  1. Why?

    1. I can only imagine for the same reason why other 22 models are losing features as well…. microchip shortage.

  2. And how much are they taking off the MSRP for this de-contenting of safety features?

    1. I think they’re one of the things that seems like it improves safety but doesn’t really work. I only found one study, which shows no significant change in accident rate. Amber forward LED turn signals on new cars are so bright, I can’t see how the tiny ones in the mirror make much difference in conspicuity. I think the rear-facing ones were worse, they were limited in how bright they were to avoid blinding the driver, so nobody really noticed them anyway.

      1. How about when the bulb burn out in the regular turn signal you still have the one in the mirror. If you dont have an indicator in the mirror you have nothing. Know some people are thinking replace the bulb in the regular turn signal but when you are driving late at night and nothing is open how are you going to do that?IMO the ting signal in the mirror is better than nothing.

    1. I hope its the old Delco push button radio.

  4. Look the car still had turn signals that do the job. So the vehicle is safe.

The question is not how much they take off the price but what they did not raise it.

My old GMC did not have them and the new does but life did not change. I never really realized they were on the car till I washed it the first time.

    1. Ok how about same content more money?

      1. I don’t mind spending a few more dollars for features I want. I realize that inflation is a factor.

  6. Must they remove this important safety feature? I can’t count the number of times signal mirrors have saved me from an accident. Shameful the Avenir does not have this feature anymore – does Buick really want to compete in the marketplace?

What will GM remove next from their vehicles. I understand the micro chip issue but I am not hearing other manufactures deleting so important safety features.

    1. Put the cell phone down and look at the turn signals still on the car,

If mirror turn signals on a lower model is going to keep the, from competing then they have worse issues.

      1. Some of us live in BIG cities! We can put the cell phone down but some drivers still cut you off or zoom in front of you without signaling especially in rush hour. The signal mirrors are really helpful in preventing accidents.

Maybe you dont need them in your small town you live in because everyone waves you into the lane with a smile!

        1. If they don’t use them then whst good are they?

I have driven in places from Duck WV to the Santa Monica Freeway in LA. In fact where I live now if you did an arm signal you would pull back a bloody stump,

The cold harsh truth is each and every vehicle has turn signals front rear and side if after 68. The mirror signals are on,y on a few models and just duplicate what is already there.

If these were the only signals I would agree but it is on.y a duplicate of what we have already.

I never understood the light fetish some have. Oh not bright enough? Not enough lights?

Whst comes on vehicles more than meets or exceeds regulations in most countries. Also they exceed whst was used for 100 years.

Add to that most live in areas where most road are lighted.

To be honest these lights were added more for styling by mfgs than safety. In fact few cars have them.

          1. Sorry, but not entirely true. Side turn indicators (either in the mirror or on the rearward part of the front fender) are there primarily for the safety of pedestrians and bicyclists. There are especially effective in urban or congested environments. A secondary benefit is having a redundant indicator from other front approach angles should the primary turn signal not be visible (like another car that is in front). They are a safety feature. Unnoticed by many, years ago GM numerous GM cars had their front side marker lights flash (alternately) with the turn signals. I don’t recall when this feature was eliminated.

This is another example of mistreating or misunderstanding safety features as styling exercises (bling as someone said). Same goes for the lack of consistent use for rear amber turn turn signals,

  8. another intelligent decision from the morons at the helm .. Buick being a high end brand is loosing safety items and low end Kia provides them .

  9. Not to be a picky person. I traded in my 12 Enclave after 6 months of ownership. What a piece of junk. Rode and looked fantastic when it ran🤦🏻. Traded it in and bought this little Hyundai Santa Fe. That was 4 years ago for $5000.00. What a solid SUV. Just clicked 180,000. Never missed a beat. I’m selling it in the fall. Oh and the Buick’s blinkers in the mirrors stopped working along with the heater and movements.
