Three previously unavailable 22-inch wheel options for the 2021 Chevy Tahoe and 2021 Chevy Suburban are once again available, GM Authority has learned. The three wheel options were previously unavailable due to constraints in the supply chain.
The three wheels in question are as follows (relevant RPO code listed in parentheses):
- 22-inch Bright Chrome wheels (SF1)
- 22-inch Carbon Flash Metallic wheels (SEZ)
- 22-inch Multi-spoke Chrome wheels (SF2)
All three wheels listed are offered as LPO-level options for the 2021 Chevy Tahoe and 2021 Chevy Suburban, which means they are shipped to and installed by the dealer, rather than installed at the factory when the vehicle is initially produced.
Thus far, a range of GM vehicles have been affected by the wheel shortage. In addition to the 2021 Chevy Tahoe and 2021 Chevy Suburban, affected vehicles also include GM’s full-size pickups, the Chevy Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500, as well as the GMC Yukon and Cadillac Escalade full-size SUVs.
GM Authority first reported on the 22-inch GM wheel shortage in January, at which time all LPO-level 22-inch GM wheels were unavailable due to supplier constraints, including those for the 2021 Chevy Tahoe and 2021 Chevy Suburban. In a follow-up posted in March, GM Authority exclusively reported that the shortage was not the result of production issues, but rather, the affected wheels had already been shipped to the Port of Los Angeles. There, the affected wheels were stored in large shipping containers waiting to clear customs. According to on source, the containers were stacked so high, they looked “like a skyscraper.”
Now, some of the affected 22-inch GM wheels are once again available to order. In addition to the options for the 2021 Chevy Tahoe and 2021 Chevy Suburban listed above, some 22-inch wheels for the 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500 and 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 are also once again available to order.
