Several months after the arrival of the 2021 Cadillac Escalade in U.S. dealerships, the new generation of Cadillac’s iconic full-size SUV is now going on sale in Russia. Overcoming the obstacles imposed by the global health crisis, General Motors finally launched the fifth-generation Cadillac Escalade in the Russian market, which is available for sale since July 1st.
The 2021 Cadillac Escalade represents one of the brand’s most important debuts in Russia, where large American-brand SUVs are highly regarded. In fact, the Escalade has been Cadillac’s best-selling nameplate in the country over the past few years, and was so successful that the fourth-generation model was assembled in Belarus to mainly supply the Russian market.
“With the all-new Escalade, we truly believe that we have pushed the boundaries of technology, handling and design while staying true to the Cadillac DNA that makes our vehicles so visible on the road,” said Managing Director of GM Russia, Ciprian Suta, in a press release. “Every detail of the Escalade was created to give the buyer a sense of exclusivity, from the bold and expressive exterior and interior to the extensive customization and unrivaled performance of Cadillac’s large luxury SUV,” he added.
The new 2021 Cadillac Escalade arrives in Russia in its two configurations, just like the outgoing model, including the standard regular-wheelbase variant and the extended-length ESV. Interested customers will be able to choose both in a total of five trim levels: Luxury, Sport, Premium Luxury, Sport Platinum and Premium Luxury Platinum. Each one has its own personality to satisfy various buyer profiles.
Based on GM’s T1 platform and adopting an independent rear suspension for the first time, the 2021 Cadillac Escalade units earmarked for Russia are equipped as standard with the 6.2L V8 L87 engine. It produces 416 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, mated exclusively to GM’s 10-speed automatic transmission. Later on, the new Escalade could be offered with the Duramax turbo-diesel 3.0L LM2 inline-six in the country.
The 2021 Cadillac Escalade is now available throughout GM’s official dealer network in Russia as the flagship and the highest expression of luxury for the American brand, with the highest levels of technology and comfort. This includes the standard 38-inch curved OLED display and the AKG surround sound systems. The base price for the Luxury variant is 7,777,777 RUB, or about $106,500 USD at the current exchange rate.
