GM Duramax Engine Power Boosted With Evolution CTS3 Kit: Video

Edge Products is giving GM Duramax owners a shot at upgrading their oil-burner with its new Insight CTS3 and Evolution CTS3 kits, offering not only digital monitoring of engine parameters, but also tuning capabilities for big power gains and minimal hassle.

The Edge Insight CTS3 kit allows GM Duramax owners to keep tabs on a wide variety of engine specs and info, providing a simple, all-inclusive alternative to a dedicated cluster of analog gauges. The digital readout will provide info on engine speed, EGT, transmission temps, IAT, boost pressure, the current selected gear, and much more. The touchscreen display also has swipe capabilities that allow users to choose between multiple pre-set monitoring screens, and it works in conjunction with numerous other engine tuning aides. What’s more, the Insight can read and clear engine codes, log data, and record performance data like 0-to-60 mph times.

For those GM Duramax engine owners looking to upgrade with more power, Edge Products also offers the Evolution CTS3, which includes all the monitoring of the Insight, but adds the option for diesel engine tuning as well. According to the manufacturer, the Evolution CTS3 allows users to add as much as 150 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque with the touch of a button through a raft of pre-programmed tuning maps.

For those users who want even more power, Edge Products offers Stage 1 and Stage 2 performance kits, which include new hardware like a high-flow intake and exhaust system, adding even more power and torque.

Basic installation of the CTS3 system is simple, with a quick plug into the OBDII port. Both the Evolution CTS3 and the Insight CTS3 are upgradeable as well, enabling users to add a variety of accessories, such as auxiliary lights, an air compressor, or a winch, all of which is controllable via digital switches on the readout.

Pricing starts at $419.95 for the Insight CTS3, and $675.95 for Evolution CTS3 systems designed for GM Duramax engines.

  3. It is highly speculative to think that the transmission will handle such a power and torque for a long time ! I believe the Duramax torque has been voluntarily limited to that of the gas engine for a reason !
