General Motors Files To Trademark Z06 Wordmark In Australia And New Zealand

General Motors has filed to trademark ‘Z06’ with the respective intellectual property offices for Australia and New Zealand.

GM filed to trademark ‘Z06’ under a Goods and Services classification reserved for “motor land vehicles, name automobiles.” This would appear to suggest the forthcoming 2023 Corvette Z06 will be sold in Australia and New Zealand at some point following its North American market launch later this year.

C8 Corvette Z06 Australia/New Zealand Trademark
Brand Office Application Date Number Goods and Services
Z06 IP Australia July 13, 2021 2193973 Motor land vehicles, namely, automobiles.
Z06 Intellectual Property Office of New Zealand July 13, 2021 1183950 Motor land vehicles, namely, automobiles.

The standard C8 Corvette Stingray went on sale in Australia and New Zealand for the 2022MY and will be sold through a newly established network of GMSV storefronts in both countries. The C8-generation Corvette is the first to be officially produced in a right-hand-drive seating layout and will thus be marketed in a handful of RHD countries, including the United Kingdom and Japan, in addition to Australia and New Zealand. We assume that any Corvette Z06 models destined for Australia or New Zealand would also be right-hand-drive.

As GM Authority reported previously, the 2023 Corvette Z06 will feature a new naturally aspirated 5.5L V8 LT6 gasoline engine with a 32-valve DOHC design and a flat-plane crank. Based on the same V8 found in the C8.R racecar, the LT6 in the 2023 Corvette Z06 is expected to produce around 600 horsepower and between 480 and 550 pound-feet of torque, with a sky-high redline of over 8,000 rpm. An eight-speed dual-clutch transmission will send power to the rear wheels.

As for the styling, it will take after the Corvette C8.R race car, with the Z06 incorporating a massive rear wing offered as part of the optional Z07 performance package. It will also ride on available lightweight carbon fiber wheels with 275/30ZR20 tires out front and 345/25ZR21 tires in the rear. The supercar is expected to wear Michelin’s Pilot Sport Cup 2R rubber, as well.
