The experts over at Kelley Blue Book have determined the Chevy Colorado ZR2 to be one of the best off-road pickup trucks on sale today.
KBB recently put together a list of the Top 15 Best Off-Road Trucks in 2021, including ten brand new trucks and five that are ideal to purchase used. The Chevy Colorado ZR2 was included on this list, with KBB saying the mid-size truck is “one of the most capable and versatile,” of its type on sale today.
KBB praised the standard Multimatic DSSV dampers that come on the Chevy Colorado ZR2, noting they can “take a pounding without overheating.” Editors also praised the truck’s “powerful 3.6-liter gas V6 engine,” and available “torque-rich,” diesel four-cylinder and noted the truck “excels at slow-speed crawling thanks to the selectable front and rear locking differentials and more aggressive tires.”
All in all, KBB’s editors gave the Chevy Colorado ZR2 a score of 4.1 out of a possible 5. The best-performing truck included in KBB’s list was the 2021 Ford F-250 Super Duty Tremor, which received a score of 4.8 out of 5 thanks to its capability, abundance of underbody skid plates and unstoppable 7.3L V8 engine. The only other GM truck included in KBB’s ranking was the 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4, which the publication said was a “solid package that fits nicely in between a more extreme Raptor or TRX and a standard-issue 4×4 pickup.”
Prices for the 2022 Chevy Colorado ZR2 start at $45,395 including destination and freight for a Crew Cab model with the 3.6L LGZ V6 engine and an eight-speed automatic transmission. The truck is also available with a 2.8L Duramax turbodiesel four-cylinder and a six-speed automatic, which raises the base price to $48,895. The truck is produced exclusively at the GM Wentzville Assembly plant in Missouri.

“The best-performing truck included in KBB’s list was the 2021 Ford F-250 Super Duty Tremor”
Time to go wheel’in and put that one to rest!
What would you expect them to say about GM vehicles when most of their ad revenue goes to social media?
The scoring is nuts.
For trail use, the ZR2, TRD Pro, Rubicon are in a class of their own. Putting a 3/4 as the top off-roader just shows this list is BS.
Do Bring In The Chevy ZR3 for 2022 and lets rock this market for its about time!…
Off road and Chevy trucks isn’t something you hear about much…glad that is changing.
Agreed, they don’t get a lot of love from the press. I guess everybody else gives the media more money to shill their products than GM?
2018 Chevy Colorado ZR2 diesel has had many module problems, sensor problems and rear transfer case actuator failure.
Yes, my 2017 diesel ZR2 also has some electrical problems that haven’t been ironed out yet. At 70,000 miles she runs and handles like new, but the check engine light came on..
GM says it should be ready this week. .Hopefully, I’ll be returning their loaner this week after one month in the shop.
