Chevy Colorado Wins AutoPacific 2021 Vehicle Satisfaction Award

Automotive marketing research and product-consulting firm AutoPacific has announced the winners of its recent 2021 Vehicle Satisfaction Awards. Taking the win in the Compact Pickup category is the Chevy Colorado.

Now in its 25th year, AutoPacific’s Vehicle Satisfaction awards are based on the firm’s New Vehicle Satisfaction Survey, which collected responses from 89,000 new car and light truck owners this year. The responses help AutoPacific to identify which models are most satisfying the customers based on 36 unique attributes, including things like driving performance, feature usability, seating comfort, and interior design. Scores are based exclusively on owner input.

This year’s awards were handed out to 12 manufacturers and 14 unique brands. General Motors was tied with Nissan Motor Company with five Vehicle Satisfaction awards, the most of all automakers studied.

The Chevy Colorado stood at the top of its segment with owner responses ranking the pickup better than or equal to the competition in 23 of the 36 attributes studied.

“The Colorado is easy to get in and out of, offers great visibility from the driver’s seat, and has controls that while they may seem dated are highly praised for their ease of use by its owners,” AutoPacific states. “From base work truck spec to the off-road conquering ZR2 Bison, Colorado owners give top rankings for attributes like handling, fun to drive, power, and acceleration.”

AutoPacific also said that unlike the Toyota Tacoma of Ford Ranger, Chevy Colorado owners were most satisfied with the pickups exterior styling, while the infotainment touchscreen was singled out for its size and intuitive operation.

Several other General Motors products were also recognized with AutoPacific 2021 Vehicle Satisfaction awards, including the Chevy Camaro in the Sporty Car segment, the Cadillac XT4 in the Compact Luxury XSUV segment, the Cadillac XT5 in the Standard Luxury XSUV segment, and the Chevy Blazer in the Premium Mid-Size XSUV segment.

  1. This truck looks like a Walmart great value special. Who thinks the styling is better than the other trucks out there especially the GMC Canyon?!

    1. I disagree, the Chevrolet Colorado has an attractive appearance/stance (so does Canyon). It is a much better looking truck vs the Taco and Ford.

Although the tech/amenities are behind, this is still the best riding/handing truck in this segment, which is why I bought it.

    2. I disagree. I think the truck looks fine. I actually like all the midsize trucks now that the new frontier has been released. The only thing I don’t care for in the GM twins is the rake of the vehicle. I wish it was more level.

  2. Wonder if they also loved the old school key and key fob.

    1. It has remote start

  3. These trucks have held up well. They are still the best riding, driving and stopping in class. The ZR is best off road in class and interior while not Bentley like is as good or better than others in class.

As for key or button start? Who cares. I got both and I really don’t get what the big deal is over the button. It is really no big deal. I would rather have a sun roof.

I’d give you 10 up votes if I could.

      1. Totally agree, I don’t know why everybody makes a big deal about push button start. Who cares! To each his own, but it certainly wouldn’t be a deal breaker for me if I found a vehicle I wanted to buy.

  5. Wwhhaattt…. the other trade rags have the twins in the basement. Should CR get a copy of this…lmao.

I still have my 09 Colorado and defy CR and other trade rags trashing the Colorado.

  6. Own a 2019 Z71 and have rented a Taco. There’s no comparison. Better ride more power and quieter than the toy.

  7. WTF is AutoPacific? Never heard of them 🤔

  8. I remember seeing the Chevy Colorado on display in the Cebu, Philippines mall. It’s the ideal truck for the area. With the Z71 package and 4-wheel drive it’s great for the rough narrow roads and tight city parking spots. However, I’m not sure if the mapping feature covers local roads, or if XM-radio coverage is available. American brands are a premium cost above the typical Asian brands like Toyota and Mitsubishi.

  9. Got a 2018 Z and love it. Just drove it to Myrtle Beach instead of our Grand Cherokee.

  10. That last picture of the side view looks so goofy to me, like they couldn’t decide what they wanted. Hoping the refresh makes it look more like a truck instead of something in the carnival house of mirrors.

  11. I agree with all the likes about the GM mid size’s except it being easy to get in and out of. Most of the passengers complain about having to hop up to get in my Colorado. Otherwise it’s the best truck I have ever owned.
