Chevy Bolt EV Sales Continue To Increase In Brazil

Since the end of 2019, General Motors is the automaker investing the most in the deployment of electric vehicles in Brazil and all of South America, a position it’s strengthening by tripling the number of dealers trained to sell Chevrolet EVs in the South American country. Although this measure is part of a long-term plan, it’s already showing results with increasing sales of the Chevy Bolt EV.

The automaker announced that Bolt EV sales continue to rise in Brazil as the company expands its local availability in dealerships, along with more after-sales support and a growing charging infrastructure. In fact, the Bolt EV ended the first half of the year as the best-selling electric vehicle in its category in the Brazilian market, repeating the feat it achieved during the same period last year.

“Electrified vehicles still represent a small portion of total sales, but the number of registrations practically doubles each year in the country. This shows enormous potential,” said GM South America Senior Direct Sales Manager, Marcelo Tezoto, in a statement. “In the case of the Chevrolet Bolt EV, we see that the demand for the zero-emission model is greater among companies. This is because more and more companies are adopting more sustainable policies, which include their vehicle fleet,” he added.

After achieving its best sales performance this year in Brazil, with 17 units sold during the month of May, the Chevy Bolt EV has just established a new best figure in 2021, with 43 units sold in June. This amount, in addition to representing a 231 percent increase year over year, is the second highest monthly result for the Bolt EV since its introduction in the Brazilian market, behind the 44 deliveries of March 2020.

The Chevy Bolt EV’s performance last month in Brazil helped close out the first half of 2021 with a total of 79 units sold, falling slightly below the 82 units delivered in the first half of 2020. Although these figures remain very low, the increase in sales shows good progress in local demand for the vehicle that will pave the way for the refreshed model in addition to the all-new Chevy Bolt EUV, which will arrive in the country in 2022.

The Chevy Bolt EV is offered exclusively in the high-end Premier trim level, and in a small portion of the extensive network of more than 500 official Chevrolet dealers in Brazil. The brand announced that with the ongoing expansion, the number of stores authorized to sell and service the Bolt EV in the Brazilian market will grow from 26 to 79, representing the largest electric vehicle sales network in the country.
