Landed, or on-the-ground, inventory of the 2021 Chevy Blazer crossover at U.S. Chevrolet dealers has dropped to just 12 days as of the beginning of July 2021, GM Authority has learned from sources familiar with the matter.
This is part of a generally downward trend which has been happening for at least the past nine months. In September of 2020, GM Authority exclusively reported that supply was running at 28 days as of the beginning of that month. The figure was the same in January of 2021.
By the end of February it had increased slightly to 31 days. Two months later it had dropped again to just 16 days, and now it’s at 12 days.
The optimal figure for the U.S. auto industry is considered to be 60 days. Naturally, there is an upside to vehicles finding customers more quickly than that, but it also implies excess demand, or insufficient supply, or a combination of the two. This in turn means that there is less choice for customers shopping at their local Chevy dealer or even higher prices as a result of lower incentives or a dealer that’s less wiling to negotiate. These circumstances could lead customers to buy a different vehicle from another brand/manufacturer.

Blazer sales in the United States certainly appear to have been impacted by the inventory issue, which we described as “alarmingly low” back when it was running at 28 days. The Chevy Blazer is in the minority of Chevrolet models which sold in lower numbers in the first half of 2021 (39,855 units) than during the same period of 2020 (41,870 units), even though it is in great demand.
The reason for the decline in sales volume is that the supply rate is unquestionably low. The crossover has been significantly affected by the global semiconductor shortage, which has led to production cuts at the GM Ramos Arizpe plant in Mexico where Blazers are assembled for the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Colombia and Middle East markets.
Production cuts naturally lead to low supply, leading in this case to the peculiar situation where Blazers are finding customers within an average of two weeks of arriving at a dealer, while sales volume falls.

Proudly made in Mexico where all GM vehicles should be built.
Really ? I’ve had GM , Chevy trucks and SUVs for 25 years built in Ingersoll Ontario, Pontiac Michigan and have had no complaints ever… This 2021 over priced mexican made blazer I purchasd is a total POS.
I own 1998 lifted 2 door chevy is blazer with a 4.3 vortec. These new blazers are trash. Not even built on a truck frame. More like a car than a truck. I will keep my 98 over a new one any day. Good luck in the mud with that trash.
The classic 2 door Blazer and Jimmy are now retro chic, way cooler on the road than the crossover Blazer. Ford is having a laugh here with the new Bronco.
Not gonna use the blazer in the mud. If you want to play in the mud, buy a polaris.
The current Blazer was launched in Arabia as a sort of crossover Camaro. And even though GM usually prices its vehicles competitively for the Gulf market it was immediately apparent that the Blazer was overpriced. Few customers understood its purpose but most understood the price and shopped elsewhere. The small to midsize crossover segment over here is fiercely competitive with rivals the Blazer doesn’t have to face in its home market. I think GM will withdraw the Blazer from the Saudi market, at least. Last year a Chinese-built Captiva was launched here and was an immediate success, even though it’s as mediocre as they come.
I own a MexiBlazer. It’s Trash, really wish I didn’t buy this forien junk. So many issues with these things, brakes are junk STILL waiting for a fix from GM, My AC sucks been in once already with no fix I was told it was ok whick it isn’t.. The paint has defects everywhere and is a soft paint you can’t touch it without putting a dented scratch in it… There’s so much more I don’t want to list everything.. lesson learned , research first before you buy anything. I wouldn’t recommend this thing to anyone.
That’s messed up next time your gotta buy a Toyota. GM doesn’t care for there customers just profit
