CES 2022 Set To See Record Auto Industry Presence

The forthcoming CES 2022 event will host a record number of automotive industry exhibitors when it kicks off in January.

The Consumer Technology Association, organizers of CES 2022, said the transportation and vehicle technology category “has already exceeded the final number of CES 2020 exhibitors and brands are continuing to sign up for the upcoming show.” So far, over 175 companies from the transportation and vehicle technology industry have committed to CES 2022, which represents a 12 percent increase from CES 2020. Some headlining exhibitors that have committed to the show so far include General Motors,  Daimler AG, Fisker, Turing Auto and Waymo, among others.

“Our exhibitors are excited to return to Las Vegas for CES and resume face-to-face interactions with partners, customers, media and other industry professionals,” said CTA member Karen Chupka. “As exhibitors select space and map out plans, we’re getting an idea of what trends will be big at CES 2022 and we’re seeing strong interest across multiple categories.”

At the online-only CES 2021 event, GM displayed its electric vehicle-focused “Exhibit Zero,” which was described by the automaker as a “virtual experience showing how GM’s vision, technology and people are driving us all toward a future world of zero crashes, zero emissions and zero congestion.” The automaker also released details on its Ultium platform at this year’s edition of the show, announced its new BrighDrop logistics sub-brand and teased the forthcoming Cadillac Celestiq luxury sedan.

GM is likely to have a continued presence at CES over the next decade as the automaker focuses more on EVs and autonomous driving technology. GM said in June that it will invest $35 billion in EV and EV programs between now and 2025, with the majority of the funds being directed to its Ultium lithium-ion battery and Hydrotec hydrogen fuel cell programs, along with its Cruise robotaxi subsidiary.

CES will take place in Las Vegas on January 5-8, 2022, with Media Days taking place January 3-4, 2022.
