Cadillac Escalade Thwarted By Red Target Ball: Video

A YouTuber by the name of Kevin Gannets recently documented his trip to Target for a vlog – but he wasn’t at the popular retail chain to purchase anything. Instead, Gannets and his friends were called by his mother to help her out after she lodged her Cadillac Escalade on one of the store’s signature red-painted spheres.

In the video, Gannets arrives at Target to see his mother’s white Cadillac Escalade lodged on top of one of the Target balls and with minor front-end damage. According to his mom, she was bringing a family member closer to the store so she didn’t have to walk all the way from the parking lot, but she didn’t see the ball due to her high-riding SUV and crashed right into it.

While the vehicle could probably have been reversed off of the ball, it would likely damage the vehicle further, so the family calls a tow truck to rescue the vehicle. Unfortunately, no towing company wanted to take on the task of getting the heavy full-size SUV off the red sphere, so it was about two hours before they could find someone willing to do it.

When the flatbed tow truck did arrive, the operator slid the flatbed underneath the Escalade’s front wheels and began winching it onto the bed slowly. He then maneuvered the vehicle off of the ball, dropping it onto the pavement. He then re-loaded the vehicle back onto the flatbed properly before towing it away. Despite the vehicle’s minor front-end damage, the underbody damage meant the family was unable to drive it away under its own power.

  7. Those red balls sure are tough. I wonder what the curb weight is on the Cadillac Escalade? In any case that is a tricky rescue. I’m glad no one was injured. I can see though, that a quick glance away while driving one of these that the red ball could disappear from the line of sight, resulting in this mishap.
