C8 Corvette Stingray Makes Its European Debut At 2021 Goodwood Festival Of Speed

The C8 Corvette Stingray celebrated its official European debut at last week’s Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Corvette Racing driver and Corvette brand ambassador Oliver Gavin, a native of Britain, was on hand at the Festival of Speed to help introduce the C8 Corvette Stingray to the European market. As we already know, the C8 Corvette Stingray is the first Corvette to be officially produced in a right-hand-drive layout, upping its appeal in RHD markets like the United Kingdom.

The European-spec Corvette Stingray will come as standard in the 2LT trim level, which offers additional equipment over the 1LT serving as the base trim here in North America. European models will at first be offered in Launch Edition trim, which is based on the range-topping 3LT trim level and also features additional Carbon Flash painted exterior components, including the spoiler, exterior mirrors and wheels. Prices for the Launch Edition coupe will start at £81,700 in the UK, roughly $113,250 USD at the current exchange rate.

The C8 Corvette Stingray will also be offered in the Convertible body style in the UK and elsewhere in Europe. Just like in North America, the drop-top variant is slightly more expensive than the coupe, with prices starting at £87,110 in the UK (about $120,750 USD). Customers can also add the Front Suspension Lift system to the vehicle for a price premium of £1,750.

“In terms of comfort and fun, the new mid-engine Stingray still looks and feels like a Corvette, but drives better than any vehicle in Corvette history,” Conark Shah, Managing Director of Chevrolet Europe, said in a statement. “Customers are going to be thrilled with the performance of this mid-engine super-sportscar offered at a very attractive starting price and for the very first time also in factory built right-hand-drive configuration.”

Chevrolet released a video showing Gavin driving the first European-spec C8 Corvette Stingray around the Goodwood circuit alongside fellow British racing driver Oliver Webb. Check out the video embedded below ahead of the C8 Corvette Stingray’s arrival at European dealerships in October 2021.

    1. GM will start making them in China to supply the world market. Dont worry its GM they will screw up the European deal and not sell any just like they always do..

    2. Simple: Europeans will pay twice as much for basically the same car. Who would you put in line first?

      1. Most of that extra cost is VAT and import duties, non of which GM gets a penny of.

  5. GM needs to improve quality before they can even consider going into Europe again. And Europeans are very loyal to brands such Audi, Volvo, and BMW and from every European I’ve talked to they said GM is “the cheapest most poorly built cars they’ve ever seen.” I personally don’t agree with that considering how bad Fiat is but that’s what they said like it or not. It also kinda makes me wonder what GM would be like if they had their current lineup but magically everything resets they’re the new brands. Would the consumer ignore GM and call it cheap or would it be a major success. Cause right now it’s proven that GMs sales are running off of loyalty.

  6. ‘Corvette Stingray’s arrival at European dealerships in October 2022’

What dealerships? Are there any except one in Britain and a few in Germany and Switzerland?
I can buy/lease Porsche, Ferrari, Nissan GT-R, McLaren even TESLA in Germany and service it in Poland. I can buy one of the mentioned brand in Poland and go to Croatia and if there’s any problem service it there.

Besides, with all due respect to the British racing driver, Corvette is not only for racing fans. The brand ambassador must be recognisable – be either a celebrity or a soccer/tennis player. I met a humble 18 year-old tennis player two years ago at a gym. She signed a contract with Lexus and drove it daily. Her name was Iga Swiatek and she won Rolland Garros last year. Her predecessor also drove Lexus (Radwanska) and her compatriot Hubert Hurkacz (Miami winner, Wimbledon semi-finalist) was recently given a Mclaren to drive in Poland.
