Four months after its official presentation in March, the refreshed 2022 GMC Terrain has been officially announced in Mexico, the only country where the model is currently being manufactured. General Motors just confirmed that the 2022 Terrain will hit the Mexican market later this year with significant design updates and distinctive trim levels that will make it stand out in its segment.
The refreshed 2022 GMC Terrain represents the fifth model year of the second-generation crossover, and includes a substantial makeover, inspired by the latest evolution of GMC’s design language. In addition, the brand’s entry-level vehicle will expand its lineup in Mexico with the addition of two trims while increasing its technological and safety features.
“The GMC Terrain is proudly made in Mexico and its quality is recognized by GMC customers worldwide,” said Marketing Manager for GMC at GM Mexico, Wilberto del Ángel, in a statement. “For the 2022 model year, it will incorporate important improvements and novelties in design, equipment and trim levels, and we are sure that this refreshed model will strengthen the position of the brand’s compact SUV, making it stand out in its highly competitive segment,” he added.
The main new aspect of the refreshed 2022 GMC Terrain, both in Mexico and in other markets, is the introduction of the AT4 trim level for first time in the model’s history. In addition to the now more-imposing range-topping Denali, the new 2022 Terrain AT4 has a unique look that includes chrome accents, black wheel with off-road tires as well as standard all-wheel drive and a steel front skid plate.
Although the definitive lineup hasn’t yet been announced for the crossover in Mexico, GM hinted at a Black Edition in the Latin country, as a local variant of the Elevation Edition, as is the case with the GMC Acadia. All versions will arrive with a generous list of technological and safety features, led by the latest generation of the company’s infotainment system that integrates wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto along with Amazon Alexa.
The refreshed 2022 GMC Terrain will be available in Mexico during the last quarter of the year, aiming to improve its positioning in the country’s growing compact crossover segment. All details on trim levels, configurations and pricing for the 2022 Terrain for the Mexican market will be announced closer to its launch date.

Makes me sick.
Make this in the USA Mary Barra
Would you be saying the same if it were made in Canada?
Especially when plants like Fairfax and Orion with excess capacity could easily build it.
Looks good the refresh compliments the terrain but build it in North America . We’re I think quality would be better in my opinion and more jobs for the U S and CANADA
You do realize that Mexico is in North America right? There have been zero quality issues between Mexico, US and Canada productions.
Yes GM plants are all. Hilt to use the same standards and the newest plants tend to hold an edge often as they gave more up to date equipment.
People need to understand that quality in China and Mexico is on equal footing with American plants. It is time we become more competitive and also enforce the same restriction on China that they force on us.
What a joke, I 80% of GMs SUVs are made in Mexico, China and Brazil.
I wonder if.merry would reside in those wonderful countries....
Proudly made in Mexico LOLOL
Can you name a manufacturer that doesn't produce in Mexico?, you also realize Lat/AM is one of GMs major markets for decades even before NAFTA.
No other car manufacturer produces more vehicles in Mexico then GM, that's a fact.
And if you're talking about the big 3, it's not even close. Ford and chrysler are barely present in that country
Gm also produces them there for export to other countries. This helps with taxes to other countries. Less taxes to export to other countries from Mexico than the US. How about also blaming the corrupt UAW, that's the main reason many plants are not in the US.
What in the world are you talking about? Tax? They produce them in.mexico to ship to other countries? They can't do that in the US or Canada? There is no tax
How about blaming incompetent gm management over the past 40 years.
No that's a feeling, here's some facts:
Ford factories in Mexico;
-Cuautitlan Stamping.
-Cuautitlan Assembly
-Hermosillo Stamping.
-Hermosillo Assembly
FCA factories in Mexico;
-Saltillo Engine Plant in Ramos Arizpe, Coahuila.
-Saltillo South Engine Plant.
-Saltillo Stamping Plant.
-Saltillo Truck Assembly Plant
-Saltillo Van Assembly Plant
-Toluca Assembly Plant......
Earlier made a comment and made a mistake about building the terrain in North America and yes i realize Mexico is in North America meant to say built in the U S or CANADA originally the terrain was built in Canada just outside of Toronto And the build quality was impeccable fit and finished lot better and with the Denali trim vehicle was not overlooked in anyway every bolt and double check twice !!!
I just can't support $2/hr workers when the terrain is 40K
Even worse supporting Chinese workers who build the even more expensive Envision with 0% US content and make pennies an hour.
Too bad gm doesn’t think like ford and Chyrsler I agree with nick
Trax-mexico
Trailblazer-brazil
Blazer-mexico
Equinox-canada and mexico(pulling out of Canada soon) so Mexico
Traverse-US
Tahoe-US
Terrain-mexico
Envision-china
Just a utter joke. I understand you want to save afew buck, but when majority of vehicles aren't in the US, that's not right.
Acadia-US, XT6-US, XT4-US, CT4-CT5-Camaro-US, colorado, canyon-US
You missed a lot. The silverado is made in the US and Mexico. If you don't like dont' buy the vehicle.
I was listing of SUV. But since you thought it up. The serria and Silverado is Mexico.
Spark-korea.
Interesting to see where gm plans to build 250k units of Equinox a year when it's moved from CAMI and the Blazer plant going to electric. Although I did hear a rumor that Orion may get some of the next-gen Eqinox build in '24.
Top 3 car manufacturers that produce in Mexico.
GM
Nissan
VW
what in common?big time quality issues
Proof? or you just like going around making baseless claims?
My gripe why do they just say the Mexican launch date? Last I looked the US buys there cars also. But no mention of the auto drought oh GM defeat stock. Lots are empty
Let's get the hell of China! How about Canada... Locking them out is just political!
Most importantly how about us - USA!!!
We need not buy anything built in China.
My decision not to buy an Envision Avenir until I found out about the China connection.
No Way! I bought a GMC Denali and never looked back. Than you
All this infighting over a vehicle gm will probably only sell a dozen a month in Mexico- if they're lucky.
