2022 GMC Sierra Limited Order Books Now Open

The books for the 2022 GMC Sierra Limited are now open, which means dealers can now place an order for the continuation Light Duty pickup.

Like the 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 Limited, order books for the 2022 GMC Sierra Limited officially opened on July 15th.

The 2022 GMC Sierra Limited serves as a “stop-gap” model between the 2021 model year and fully refreshed 2022 GMC Sierra. As such, the 2022 GMC Sierra Limited is similar to the pre-refresh 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 in terms of trim levels, exterior colors, and interior colors. In that sense, the 2022 GMC Sierra Limited plays the same role as the 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 Limited with regard to the pre-facelift 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500. Both Limited models will run for a shortened model year prior to giving way to the fully refreshed 2022 model year vehicles.

As GM Authority covered previously, production of the 2022 GMC Sierra Limited is slated to ramp up in late September, with both Regular Cab and Crew Cab body styles set to roll of the line at the GM Silao plant in Mexico by September 20th, 2021. Meanwhile, production of Regular Cab models will kick off at the GM Fort Wayne Assembly plant in Indiana a week later on September 27th, 2021. These production dates coincide with production of the 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 Limited, as well.

As a a reminder, the fully refreshed 2022 GMC Sierra (as opposed to the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Limited continuation model) will introduce a long list of changes and updates over the preceding models, including new exterior styling, an overhauled interior with a new center stack, dash, and center console, and new technology courtesy of the implementation of GM’s new Global B electric architecture. To that latter point, the refreshed 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 will incorporate GM’s Super Cruise semi-autonomous drive system, which will enable drivers to tow autonomously.

  3. How the hell can you order one when they quit building them for July? Did they run out of cheap, crappy interior parts?

  4. Anybody know when the 2022 refreshed designs will be revealed? When you can order them and when production starts? I’m guessing this data isn’t available yet but just curious if anybody has the inside scoop?

  7. When will we know more about the order books for the refreshed version? GM is calling it a “Mid – model year release”. Doesn’t that indicate we might get more info and potentially be able to order around Fall-ish?

  8. I think what is happening here is that GM is attempting to sedate us by offering a ‘LIMITED’ version of the 2021!!! I can only speak for myself, but If I wanted a 2021, I would’ve bought one in the first place. GM is going to piss off a bunch of GM lovers by offering what amounts to a 1 year old truck at 2022 prices. I keep my ass in my 2018, and wait for the real thing to show up, even if I have to wait until next summer to get it. I won’t pay any ‘dealer’ ripoff premiums either!! I bought my 2018 and got $8,000.00 off MSRP and I expect to get at least that much off the 2022. KB/KC
