The official online configurator for the 2022 Chevy Spark is now live, allowing interested customers to spec theirs to taste and explore the various options on offer.
Compared to the preceding 2021 model year, the 2022 Chevy Spark offers three new exterior colors, namely Crimson Metallic, Blue Glow Metallic, and Nitro Yellow Metallic. The three new hues arrive as replacements for three outgoing colors, specifically Passion Fruit, Toasted Marshmallow, and Caribbean Blue.
Beyond the exterior paint change up, the rest of the vehicle remains unchanged. The 2022 Chevy Spark arrives as the ninth model year of the current generation, previously receiving a refresh for the 2019 model year. The body style continues as a four-door hatchback in the mini car A segment.
Looking over the trim level cadence, the ACTIV trim stands out for its unique wheel design, unique front and rear fascia, off-road skid plates, and revised suspension, the latter of which raises the vehicle’s ride height by an additional 0.4 inches (10mm). The rest of the trim level lineup includes the LS, 1LT, and 2LT.
Motivation is sourced from the naturally aspirated 1.4L I4 LV7 gasoline engine, which produces 98 horsepower at 6,200 rpm and 94 pound-feet of torque at 4,400 rpm. Both a five-speed manual and a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) are offered. Under the skin, the 2022 Chevy Spark rides on the GM Gamma 2 platform.
Following the departure of the Fiat 500, the Chevy Spark and Mitsubishi Mirage are the only remaining models in the U.S. mainstream city car segment. So far, the Bow Tie brand product has outsold the Mitsubishi in a nearly two-to-one ration, with first quarter sales for the 2021 calendar year revealing 11,505 units sold for the Spark, and 6,932 units sold for the Mirage.
