The 2022 Chevy Camaro can be outfitted with a long list of aesthetic upgrades via the available Design Packages. Now, GM Authority is taking a closer look at what these packages have to offer in the following comparison.
The three 2022 Chevy Camaro packages in question are dubbed Design Package 1, Design Package 2, and Design Package 3. The three packages are available on 1LT, 2LT, 3LT, LT1, 1SS, and 2SS trim levels, but not the LS or ZL1 trims.
All three packages are also available for both 2022 Chevy Camaro Coupe and 2022 Chevy Camaro Convertible models, as well as in conjunction with the following three exterior paint colors (relevant paint codes listed in parentheses):
- Vivid Orange Metallic (GCF)
- Rapid Blue (GMO)
- Wild Cherry Tintcoat (GSK)
All three Design Packages require the RS Package (RPO code WRS) when added to 1LT, 2LT, and 3LT trim levels.
There’s also a few items that are included with all three packages for all compatible trim levels, including the Camaro logo wheel center caps (RPO code 5ZB) and the premium carpeted floor maps with Camaro logo (RPO code VYW, no longer available as of October 4th, 2021). Other items are only included with specific Design Packages, such as a Black or Silver Center Stripe / Black Metallic or Silver Center Stripe, which is available with Design Package 2, but not Design Package 1 or Design Package 3.
It’s also worth noting that some of the items included in these packages are only available with certain trim levels. For example, the Black or Silver Center Stripe mentioned above applies to 1LT, 2LT, and 3LT trims, whereas the Black Metallic or Silver Center Stripe mentioned applies to LT1, 1SS or 2SS trim levels.

All this information about the 2022 Camaro is good, but, what is the chip shortage going to do to delivery?
I understand that the available chips will be going to vehicles with higher demand than the Camaro.
Available Chips will go in the remaining 2021 Camaro’s that were built before the plant went idle that were waiting on Chips during the shortage. My 2021 LT1 purchased June 2021 was one of those examples built in February that was waiting on a Chip.
As the Camaro isn’t sell well, does that mean that some ’21’s will be sitting on a lot somewhere while some ’22’s are awaiting chips?
Does this chip shortage affect all car brands? One Hyundai dealership that I know around me doesn’t seem to have any shortage of chips or cars they don’t know where to store the cars next. They are buying land elsewhere to park their cars. Same goes for the Honda dealer and Kia and Subaru dealers. I would think anybody looking for a car now should be able to get it for thousands and thousands of dollars less just like the crazy SUV frenzy where they were giving tens of thousands of dollars off on SUVs.
GM needs to stop production of the Camaro if they are not going to take the car seriously. The sales of this car has been spiralling downward for some time now. But they just place band-aids on a patient that needs necessary surgery. This car deserves better. I am a Chevrolet fan. I am a Corvette fan, I am also a Camaro fan. In fact I have both cars and I love and enjoy them both. But evidently what GM is putting out as it relates to the Camaro is not working. I also think that GM has lost its luster due to some reliability issues and how GM treats its customers. Give the Camaro half of the attention that is given to the Corvette and the Camaro will bounce back.
They stopped making the Camaro for quite a few years.
Looks like they are destined to do it again.
I was considering another Camaro if they had put in the flat-plane crank they were talking about.
But they aren’t.
DOES ANY OF THIS HELP YOU SEE OUT OF THE CAR? I HAD A 2016. NEVER AGAIN.
With the side mirrors and backup camera I have no problem in my 2021 LT1
Im fortunate to drive in some more exotic sport cars. Been in a Ferrari. Been in Mclaren?
I had a 16ss no reverse cam. My 21’ LT1 I optioned with 8” 3.0 infotainment. Wasn’t an issue in my SS or LT1 now.
GM seems to put all the focus on the C8 Corvette. I will never buy a C8 now that there is no option for a manual transmission. I love my ZL1 with the 6 speed manual and will probably have it forever. When I can feel comfortable buying a Vette it will for sure be a C7 ZO6 with a manual. If you have a Camaro hang on to it, the end is soon for these awesome cars.
Put more power like Doge and Ford are doing. Chevy would win for sure
I’m just hoping that the ZL1 and ZL1 1LE packages remain. Had a 2019. Like a dope, got rid of it. Get it before this crazy electrification crap happens across-the-board.
i want a Camaro, that when I see it it , the look of it makes me want to buy it, like when i saw a black ZL1 on the lot , and tried to buy, but it was sold. Yesterday i saw a newer Lexus LC-500, wow what a body, lustful, absolutely beautiful body, but a little too much $ and not a Camaro , come guys change that ugly front end so i want to buy it.!!!!!!
Get woke or choke. The Camaro was destroyed by the design flaw. The design flaw is the CEO.
All is fine and dandy, I guess, for the Camaro but one thing is missing. It seems that AEB with PEDESTRIAN DETECTION is apparently missing from the new mix. Pedestrian detection, with AEB, got it GM? The company is seriously lax in so many areas that it’s almost sad. Terrible! Stay safe, all! Peace! ♐
I think it’s the Mustangs that need pedestrian protection, not the Camaro.
Have a 2016 camaro and love everyone about it including the smaller windows which is why it looks so good
And you can see fine out of those windows too ! Front, side, rear all good, and with the backup camera and lane change assist feature in the side mirrors even better. Taller drivers probably feel cramped because of the low roof design, so
buy something else, like an SUV. As a sports car I love the Camaro.
Have a 2020 2 SS, love it, no visibility issues at all…..
Doesn’t do GM much good to keep updating trim options when do to a chip shortage and a lack of vehicle advertising, and the fact that dealers don’t have any cars to sell, no one can actually find or buy one, of course sales are falling off, no cars to sell can certainly cause that…. The best products in the world can be hard to obtain when no one has any to sell, also hard to get one the way you would like it, color, trim, trans, etc…. I get all kinds of compliments on my car at gas stations, car washes, etc and from both men and woman….. higher HP cars out there, but means nothing as they cannot transfer this additional HP to the ground, only good for spinning wheels and burning up expensive tires, adds almost nothing to vehicles actual acceleration or performance times…. Only good for HP bragging rights….. have seen Cars with 400 plus HP leave some of these 700 plus super cars in the dust..
I LOVE my 2020 2SS too! I’ve had a 1985 IrocZ, a2010 2SS, a 2016 2SS, and of course my 2020 2SS. ALL have been outstanding cars. I think a LOT of Camaro’s trouble is lack of advertising. The Camaro 2SS is a far superior car to the Mustangs and Challengers. I hear a lot of comments from those fanboys trying to run down Camaro when it is obvious from their comments that they know nothing about Camaro. They seem to have some really warped ideas about the car. Camaro is a very very well made car. Hell my 2010 2SS is sitting in my driveway right now with 250,000 miles on it and only minor things done to it. It has been a great car. My 2016 2SS would still be there too but some fool crossed 3 lanes and hit me head on. I walked away without a scratch. Just my feelings were hurt over losing such a great car like that. I love my 2020 2SS and I’m especially happy that I put the 10 speed transmission in it. Wow!! Best transmission I’ve ever experienced in a car! I’m 6’2” and I have no problem with room or being able to see out of it. I learned how to adjust my seat a long time ago…LoL. Once you drive the car a couple days, it doesn’t seem hard to see out of it at all. Great cars!!!
Funny how everyone else including writers for car magazines who I feel sure can adjust a seat and my self at 6.0ft and we all think the slits for window are like gunsights. Blind spot on rear quarter will hide a semi. Just not that comfortable of a car. Interior of the Mustang far nicer, leaps and bounds easier to see out of, and far easier to enter and exit. The Camaro is a great driving and performing car but perfect it is not.
No car is “ perfect “ . As for the Camaro, sure it sits low, but funny,
I’ve had my ‘17 from new, and visibility is not a problem for me.
Once you drive one for a short while, the view from front, sides, and rear are quite clear. Lane change assist is also a bonus.
But having a car that only goes in circles gets you nowhere. Horsepower rules the day. Camaros are weak in a drag race on a track. Dodge proves that week after week. Camaro needs more horsepower.
Some people haven’t been following recent road racing and drag racing events, or even the chevy powered Indy cars…… Chevy has been kicking butt, and Camaros having killing Nascar, both on ovals and road courses, no one wins every race, but they certainly are doing very very well in all racing formats,
Pedestrian detection is the job of the driver, maybe if people put down there phones, coffee, and make up and concentrated on their driving instead, we wouldn’t have to waste money having all these technologies added in the first place
Yes, those Nascar Camaro’s are off the showroom floor stock. Duh. And woke Nascar can go woke themselves.
For all the nay sayers, until you drive a Camaro, 6.2 liters 455 HP, you’ll want one. I personally believe the design has become too old, or as auto writers like to say, long in the tooth. Ford had the E-Mustang in name only, Chevrolet will come out with a EV Camaro, even it’s by name only.
Inability has always been a challenge in most of the cars since the 60’s.
Ever been in a late 60’s early 70’s Mustang? 70 Z/28?
Today’s car visibility is not a problem. If it is you just need to learn to drive something with style vs the Toyota Corolla you have gotten used to.
If anything come up with an original excuse.
The Camaro needs a redesign period. Nothing else is going to do the trick just go drive a 5.0 stang and your see the difference. Okay I know I’m going to get beat up but GM needs to face the facts. Fords probably coming out with a new mustang in 2023…
You won’t get beat up but perhaps you need to go drive a new Camaro
I have 2020 2SS, no visability problems what so ever, interior is also very nice, high quality leather and appointments, car runs like a r-p-ed ape…. Entire car is bad to the bone, love it……may not win every drag race, but is plenty fast on straight or curved road ways…. Can hold its own against most high performance and super expensive cars…. Would purchase this car again in a heart beat…..
Barra is like the current border czar. The Camaro is toast just like the USA. Incompetence is killing all things long treasured.
