GM Authority can exclusively reveal the first image of a 2022 Chevy Camaro fitted with the Design Package 3, which is new for the 2022 model year.
The Package is assigned RPO code PDP, and will be optional on both Coupe and Convertible versions of the Camaro in all trim levels except the base LS and the range-topping ZL1.
The equipment included in the Design Package 3 varies according to the trim level of the car to which it’s being fitted. However, in every case, it includes the following LPO (dealer-installed) items:
- Camaro logo wheel center caps (5ZB)
- Black sueded knee pads (S0U)
- Satin Black Hood Stripe with Silver Ice Metallic Hash Mark (SHS)
- Fuel filler door in Black with visible carbon fiber insert
- Carbon Flash Metallic second generation Ground Effects (VTD)
- Premium carpeted floor mats with Camaro logo
Other items in the Package are 20-inch 5-split spoke polished forged wheels (WR1) and a Black Camaro fender badge emblem (CG3). Both are included in the Package for the Chevy Camaro in the 1LT, 2LT and 3LT trim levels, but only the wheels are offered with the LT1 trim level (that’s because the LT1 trim includes a unique LT1 fender badge).
Both items are also part of the Design Package 3 offered with the 1SS and 2SS trim levels, but here the RPO code for the wheels is 57W. This is because the rear wheels for those trim levels are staggered (one inch wider than those at the front), in order for them to carry 275/35ZR20 tires rather than the regular 245/40ZR20 rubber.
In each case, the Package also requires the addition of the RS Package (WRS).
One last thing to be aware of is that the Design Package 3 is offered only for Chevy Camaro models painted in the following exterior colors:
- Rapid Blue (GMO), as pictured on this page
- Vivid Orange Metallic (GCF)
- Wild Cherry Tintcoat (GSK)
Pricing for the Package has yet to be announced.

Get rid of the damn stickers, and make this great car CHEAPER!!!!!! Then you will out sell the creaky old Dodges!!!!!!!!!
If you don’t like the decals, don’t order them. THEY ARE OPTIONAL, because THIS PACKAGE IS OPTIONAL.
Still can’t believe how many people don’t understand but comment anyway.
Kate,
This is an opinion forum. At the top of the column there is the word “COMMENTS.”
Nobody is making a threat or political statement.
Dude
People can’t READ…
if you don’t like the stickers, then remove them when you get the car home. The Camaro is already under priced and an amazing deal for an amazing car.
No it shouldnt if you want the zl1 look, buy a zl1
My god, who thinks this sh#t up, lipstick on a pig, stickers won’t hide the ugly clown face, redesign the front end at least , make it lustful so I want to buy it, like the zl1 front, then it will outsell the competition , why keep dragging your feet on this problem.
That look like CRAP why would anyone pay for something only have to remove the stickers STUPID. I have a great idea remodel the frontend on the Camaro are let slow sale kill it off for a 2nd time
It’s an OPTION!!! YOU DONT HAVE TO TAKE OFF ANYTHING…..
Why would you order it as an OPTION if you want to take it off??????
Read the article better!!!!!!
Come on Chevrolet, we can do better than this. Stickers?
Innovate. Inspire people.
WTF gm… the main issue is the front design. We all know the car is the better of 3 ponies but you keep denying the fact and yet you have continued to ignore what your readers have expressed. The ZL1 front should be on the standard Camaros… Now you gm, have BMW, Toyota, Hyundai, and Nissan, throwing the Camaro under the bus with vehicles going after the Camaro with 6 cylinder challengers in segment of v8s – you’ve allowed the door to be opened.
The other 2 ponies out selling the Camaro based fascia design. Look, you can’t even get the people to lease a 455hp LT for mere $272.00 a month. This wouldn’t happen if the car looked good…
This car is the best of the 3 and yet in last place…WTF gm… FAIL….
JMO
I bought a new 2017 RS 50th Anniversary LT2, equivalent to the LT3 optioned Camaro now. The front fascia on this one RS model has a unique grill / bumper design that delivers the look that buyers want now, a very sporty, clean, and aggressive appearance.
There is nothing wrong body style wise with the gen 6 Camaro, and much right.
Too much tinkering with facelifts on the grill, ( other than ZL1) have spoiled its appearance from the front no doubt, an easy fix for GM you would think. New colors and appearance packages are fine, but also deal with what potential buyers are complaining most about. Some advertising campaigns wouldn’t hurt
either. Sadly, sports car sales, Corvette excluded, are taking a beating these days
from lookalike SUVs , Pickups, etc. which provide minimal excitement for car enthusiasts. We all know what that means to auto manufacturers — build what sells, and cut out what doesn’t.
No it shouldnt if you want the zl1 look, buy a zl1
I was waiting for someone to say it, the design of the car, whether it’s the back, side or front, is the most important feature of a car, look at Pontiac, the company died because the designs were unattractive, gm didn’t do anything about it, and I feel that gm isnt trying to help the Camaro either, but I agree with how the zl1 should be the base design, but would love there to be more designs.
It’s just a package like the Shock & Steel and Wild Cherry design packages which had a stinger decal on the hood. If you don’t like the design don’t buy it. Build your Camaro in Rapid Blue like you prefer. Hopefully Camaro production will continue without any delays so more are available to the public. As for the front end I love my 2021 LT1. Plus it’s nice to not see a lot of Camaro’s on the road. It’s something different and rare.
I think it’s time for merry to step down. GM makes garbage now, they moved most production out of Canada and US. Cut top many features and rise prices.
Wrong. Most GM production is still in Canada and US. A few vehicles come over from Mexico, China and South Korea.
Also, GM keeps posting record profits and healthy sales, even in light of extremely difficult environment. And the EV push is right around the corner. Maybe it’s you who needs to step down from commenting random garbage and falsehoods.
LOL. 90% of there SUVs are made in China, Mexico and Brazil. Please get facts right and don’t support merry just bc she is a women
What fools! Imagine how many more Camaros Chevy would have sold if it looked JUST like a 1st gen or even an early 2nd gen, with the latter having enuf glass for 2 new camaros! Gangster glass is not for me!!
Rapid Blue ZL1 1LE ordered up…
The writing is on the wall for Merry. Bye Bye Miss American sty. Took her Chevy to the levy and it rolled right in.
Instead of more decal and sticker option packages, how about an option package that would put soft touch material on the dash and not hard plastic. If you look at the Mustang in the Challenger they feel nice on the dash 35 to $50,000 Camaro with hard plastic like an old boombox radio just as wrong
How about giving this damn thing real 500 wheel Horsepower and cleanup and redesign the front end, also give it a lower stance.. I mean right now this car is dated…
You mean dated like the Dodge Challenger ?
If we’re talking about in design probably, however the Dodge Charger and Challenger sales are better than the Camaro.
Why are there Chevy haters even on here. I myself think the Camaro looks way meaner than all the others. I have not problem with the front end. If I could afford one I would have any of them starting with the 2010 gen 5. So bight me.
maybe because they are fans of chevy and don’t like the look of the Camaro I think it’s pretty obvious
Ok, I wouldn’t buy the 4 cyl unless it was half price or something. I have a HHR SS with about the same horsepower and thats just sad.
Once again GM’s Chevy Camero’s are being candy 🍭 coated to provide eye candy to prospective buyers. What GM’s so called marketing expects fail to realize (since most weren’t born then) is why the Camero was built and why was it better than the Mustangs. Manurablity is the key 🗝️, and most commercials should always highlight that which produces Safety 🦺 for our customers
Oh and by the way the 2009 Chevy HHR SS is for sale. It is the Imperial Blue Metallic and is pretty fricken nice.
Chevy is really not getting it this same Old look is OLD please hire some old school engineers that came out with 2 Gen look or 3 Gen see why sales suck because nothing has changed 11yrs same same glad I purchased back in the day will not b around long period going down and away
If that’s the way you really feel about Camaro, what about Mustang and Challenger designs — now they are OLD. What exactly do you want anyway ?
When are they coming to Australia 👍😊
All three colors are extra cost which means another $495. out of your pocket unless they raise prices for 2022.
Ok so the front end to this Camaro is still ugly and there is no talk about engine package like all the other car maker have done so I don’t get it if they left it with the ZL1 look and body style even the street/track version look badass but this is an ugly version of what I have seen they talk about package and all it’s about the look man forget that nonsense dodge and Ford still keeps there mean looks on there cars that is why I said about the ZL1 looks better but do they care nope that’s why sales go bad there no looks no engine packages and a brake package because the more power you add it has to stop better
The Camaro has to be at top next to the vet but they rather make the vet look good then the Camaro which is not fair so to be a person that love GM cars to me is sad and it sucks but that’s my opinion so I know they don’t care but I do try to let u know straight forward
If you want to REVAMP the CAMARO?! Ignore the CIRCUS STICKERS! Design Mechanical improvements to out handle; run; out duration DODGE, THE SUPER Snake, Shelby Cobra’s DRIVETRAIN, get better manufactured compound for the RUBBER we all DRIVE ON!! Do one better than that YOUTUBE Fiasco about a dodge demon that out ran a police chopper on video. Also: design the Camaro’s chassis w/that of the C7 corvette.
Lol…I still have a 4th gen 99 SS SLP Navy Blue with chrome 5 spoke wheels. I pull next to eack of todays ponies and feel like a mini… they are big compared to my 99. I changed the front grill that resembles a gen 1 with a blue bow tie. I also modded and upgraded my 5.7 LS1 to match a C7 Corvette stock HP of 460 block HP with a higher stall converter. I like the latest gen Camaro but like my earlier post, I can’t get use to the front. I also bought a 2018 SS but couldn’t manage the cost so when I finally had the funds, the fascia changed twice – in the wrong direction for me… Believe it or not, I still get a thumbs up…
Correction : I also would have bought a 2018 SS…
My bad…
COME ON GM !!! WTF are you guys doing. YOU NEED A NEW DESIGNER. Yall are keeping it to basic . These new SS should be lookin more like the ZL1 by now … You guys can do better. Who ever designed the ZL1 and ZL1 1LE . Should be designing the SS. Needs to be meaner looking and much faster..
Pretty clear the decal team is running the Camaro program. Pathetic way to kill off a product like this. Maybe it’s a view of the
future of what’s to come in China, Buicks with lot’s of decals.
if you buy an SS or higher trim, nothing wrong with a few decals. It’s got a 6.2L Corvette engine under the hood, that does 0-60mph in 3.9s. I see people with Honda Civic Type R’s with way more accessories that does 0-60 in 5.5s, or even Toyota 86’s and Subaru BRZ’s that does 0-60 in 6.5s.
If you’ve got the performance numbers to back up the looks, nothing wrong with a few decorations.
If you’re into spending 40k on a pile of stickers you have a point. Most folks want a vehicle they can justify the money they just spent on. Looks like there are many in the market for a car in that class, just not one with the current design. Lower case gm has become one giant design flaw.
I have a 2015 RS. It’s kind of funny…when a mustang is coming up on my Camaro, they act like they are jealous of the Camaro. They pull up to the side of me, and hang out… I just ignore the idiot. Then he gets pissed and takes off beating his car… I also have a 2013 Shelby Gt500, plenty of get up and go… But, I like the 15 Camaro. I wish GM would have kept the counsel look with the gauges like the old Camaro and what they have in the 2015. They are what the first Camaro came out with.
I think GM should just kill this camaro, buy a ’69 dynacorn camaro & figure out how to bring THAT up to modern safety & rustproofing specs. I bet they would sell TONS of those, like they did in ’69. & remember, the ’69 lasted only ONE model year!! They should have done that back in 2010.
I know so many people who had a ’69 & i would have bought a 2010 if it looked like the ’69.
Oh, I here ya. Obviously they where trying to make it look like the 60s Camaros and I think they did a decent job. Nit the best but I would get one if I could. Of course I would love, love, love to have any of the 60s ones. Then at least I could work in the engine myself.
I’m kind of taken back I was thinking of buying a new camera but now I’m so confused. You all sound like you work for GM and hate the CEO what the hell? I don’t care what package it is I only want to see the car and decide for my self. I like the blue I always have I don’t want a ground pending v8 but I don’t want a v6 .maybe a supercharged 5 liter. And some handling features. That will get me by for the next 10 years .and I don’t like ecars. I m not falling for masks battery powered rechargeable junkyard bait.

Yea I totally agree with you. I think a V8 Camaro would be nice as a summer or weekend car to play around with but I wouldn’t want one as a daily driver. I personally like the V6, but found a better deal on the 2.0T. The next generation of Camaros, I would love to see a turbo v6 or something boosted. I’m not falling for the BEV BS either. They’re not better for the environment and you’re stuck to a grid when you own an EV. I like how Ford is going Hybrid+Boosted power trains for their S650 Mustangs coming out in 2022. I wished Camaro would do the same, I am not buying an electric Camaro.
Been a chevy camaro and corvette guy for decades, and think the Camaro is still a great car in most ways. I will probably order a 2022 ss1 if and when they ever start production again because I think manual transmissions and high horsepower gas engines are rapidly on their way out. May not have much opportunity beyond the next couple of years. But while the engineers are doing a respectable job, I think marketing and management have failed the Camaro miserably and sales numbers prove it. Marketing, at least in my part of the country (SC) is non-existent. Everytime I turn on the TV or open a magazine I get a Bronco or Challenger shoved in my face. The few GM commercials have seen in the last couple of years have been pathetic and lame. And GM seems to be fairly non-responsive to owners reviews / comments / recommendations / issues. The buck stops at the top. Step aside and let someone actually lead before GM is 6-ft under. Allow cars to be exciting again.
I was graduating high school around the time Transformer movie came out with the release of the 5th gen Camaro. And I fell in love with the car and the Camaro culture. The way Shia Labeouf, the nerdy kid who got that beaten up old Camaro that chose him (“the car chooses the driver” lol), and had to save the world from the Decepticons. That was the most brilliant marketing I’ve ever seen. Today I don’t see anything about Camaros but I see Mustang marketing everywhere.
Personally I think Camaros and Corvettes have been the most exciting in terms of performance I’ve ever seen. The C8 is sold out and can’t keep up with demands. The 6th gen Camaros have some of the best performance numbers in track times than any competitor. The 6th gen ZL1 1LE have similar track times as Porsches and Ferraris around the Nurburgring, and is even faster than any C7 Corvette. That new Alpha2 chassis they developed for the 6th gen Camaros and Cadillac ATS CTS CT4 has some of the best handling. The only thing I’m worried about is what they’re going to do to the 7th gen Camaros.
I’d want an SS 1LE 6th gen before it’s too late too. That $50k car is competing with cars that cost $100k.
Probably won’t be a 7th gen with GM marketing running the gen 6 into the ground!
I would take any of them if I had anyone that was willing to co sign for me. It is amazing how you can do so much for people and when ut comes to you needing something that would not be a problem for them at all they just can’t do because of zero reason. And yes I am whining because I will probably be dead or disabled before i can afford a Camaro and it sucks.
Camaros are not that expensive compared to other sports cars. Especially if you buy at the right time when there are sales. I was able to get an RS for $25k usd new.
I have a 2010 camaro ss it resembles a 1969 model more than any other year and thats what I like about it
Yea I agree the 2019 facelift brings that old school look back like the 2010-2015 models
The Camaro needs to go back to the 1969 body style .
I mean exactly like they were in 69 and not like the Hot Wheels Cars of today.
I doubt they would pass crash testing. Those old cars were more ergonomically friendly though.
The front end of the non-ZL1 Camaros is very “uninspiring”. I love the back, but the front is simply a total miss. Even the 2020 “fix” on the SS wasn’t a fix. Get the front end right and watch what happens. If you don’t have any gifted designers left (since you are apparently only employing designers that specialize in invisible SUVs), then just adapt the ZL1 front on all models and drop the stripped LT models. They cheapen a potentially great car.
Oh goody more stickers! wtf!
Personally I think when it concerns the SS. I think there should be a small effort to separate it from the other models of this car like the SS insignia it’s self should be on the front grill by itself and also embroidered on the seats and possibly on the plenum also I think it should also be a bump up in HP to at least 530 hp am fitted with 20 inch rims 275/ 35’s in the front and 315/ 35’s in the rear and for gods sake don’t add anymore weight to this car
