The 2022 Chevy Camaro Convertible will no longer be available to order with either the Blue or Kalahari convertible top colors.
With this change, the 2022 Chevy Camaro Convertible will offer only one top color: Black. The Blue and Kalahari convertible top colors were both no-cost options and could be equipped on the Chevy Camaro Convertible when paired with certain exterior colors only. The Black convertible top is the standard top color option and is compatible with all available exterior colors.

This change is one of many that General Motors has applied to the Chevy Camaro’s order book for the 2022MY. The two-door will also ditch two available exterior colors from its color palette, Orange Crush and Shock, with Rapid Blue and Vivid Orange will indirectly replacing them. The Kalahari interior color will also be dropped, while a revised version of the Shock and Steel Special Edition Package will be introduced. The 2022 Chevy Camaro will also ditch one of its wheel options and will do away with the available 1LE performance package for 1LT trim level.

The 2022 Chevy Camaro will continue to offer the same engine lineup as before, including the turbocharged 2.0L I4 LTG, the naturally aspirated 3.6L V6 LGX, the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 LT1, and the supercharged 6.2L V8 LT4. Transmission options will include a six-speed manual, eight-speed automatic, and 10-speed automatic, depending on the powerplant selected. Under the skin, the 2022 Chevy Camaro will continue to ride on the athletic GM Alpha platform.
As GM Authority reported previously, the 2022 Chevy Camaro will enter production on August 17th, 2022 – one month earlier than GM previously expected. The vehicle is produced at the GM Lansing Grand River facility in Michigan alongside the Cadillac CT4 and Cadillac CT5 sedans.

Another indication the end is near. Sad
Slowly, but surely, GM is strangling the life out of Camaro. If it wasn’t for NASCAR needing sedans, it would have been over long ago. Remember when Camaro spanked Mustang in sales? God, they’re inept.
Lol it’s nothing to do with the so-called “end”. For every model year automakers scraps some old options and add new ones. You would easily know that if you had been a regular at GMA, they feature hundreds of articles like this for all vehicle models.
The Camaro needs to take some styling cues from the C7 Corvette if it is to survive. It isn’t competing with Chrysler and Ford as it is. Something radical needs to be done as quickly as possible. Does GM want the Comaro to exist?
NASCAR hope they keep it around. They plan on that to be the next Gen. car
An indication of poor sales of the other existing top colors. Nothing more nothing less.
The car needs a new look pure and simple. This style unless you are hard core old old old and ugly. Big joke of a pony car.
The body lines aren’t unattractive at all. It isn’t too big to downright huge like the Mustang and Challenger and the chassis and suspension are second to none. The slit windows may’ve been too much for some, but what sunk this car is years of awful sci-fi gm front and rear plasticky styling – and never a cohesive looking wheel option. And the typical gm dearth of attractive colors and advertising.
So that’s the way I ordered my Rapid Blue with a black top. That was back in April. So my hope is to get it in production on Aug. 17,2021 so I can tour the color change as fall comes.
Kalahari seats are drop-dead gorgeous. So somebody said , yeah, they are beautiful, let’s eliminate them. In the same way they are killing the full-size van. Taking options away, no 1500 Express, no AWD, eliminating some creature comforts. My 2012 Express with a 5.3V8 is all the power I need and I can feel all 4 wheels pulling when I’m merging on the X-way. It’s the perfect snow country vehicle. They can’t complain about sales if dealers don’t have either one of these great vehicles to sell. It’s time to restart Packard Electric and make the darn chips right here. This is pathetic!!! But first fire the moles in the company who think we all should drive look-alike SUVs(can anyone explain the difference between the Equinox, the Blaser, and what the heck is a Trailblazer) or $80,000 Tahoes. ( My 5.3 V8 gets 18mpg all day long on the X-way. 20mpg with a tail wind.)
The first comment says it all. Squeeze out all the low volume options to reduce inventories and cost on your way to complete elimination. As far as NASCAR is concerned, Chevy will exit ICE racing as it is counter to their chosen direction. I will never buy another GM product but, Who cares? GM certainly doesn’t.
Sorry you missed the boat on Chevy setting up Camaro in electric for NASCAR. They have rumblings already. Yes
I’LL wait to see that . If the rumors are true. Corvair.Nova,Chevelle, All died a slow death till you go to a car show of auction.
Mustang convertible tops are only offered in black and the Ford still out sells the Camaro. That being said I think that giving the customer a chance to order his car in a unique color combination is a good thing. And who knows, with such a choice some people might have picked the Camaro.
GETTING READY FOR THE BIG EXIT, WELL MAYBE NOT TOO BIG.
New gm: Death by a Thousand Cuts
And so it begins.
The elimination of options and packages until nobody wants the car anymore.
And then GM can say they cancelled it because nobody was buying them.
I think they’ve started the “slow kill” of this amazing car when they changed the design in 2019…
I didn’t get it back then as the ZL1 retained the 2016 design but now I get it.
I was hoping the car will get some serious upgrades both in design and electronics but as it seems it will never do.
As much as I wanted a V8, I’m happy to own a 2018 V6…
No it could have been refined and make some new stamping keep the great platform. The gun slit was always a no go for me
What “gun slit”? The top is always down.
The Camaro died when the big bosses moved Chief Engineer Oppenheiser over to EV development, when, 2-3 years ago? We can now see why. They knew the future of corporate direction and they put their best people on the project. Camaro development stopped in its tracks. Everything with ICE is expendable if not doomed entirely with the possible exception of Corvette.
The Camaro hasn’t had really significant development since it’s reintroduction. It’s has sheet metal changes, and series of hand me down engines from other GM models from the 4 bangers that live in countless models around the World, to big numbers LS pieces developed for Corvette. They really haven’t invested the resources to make Camaro a general market success, but I must confess they have borrowed some crazy, fun, crazy horsepower LSs. Like them, or not, Mustang has been improved to the point that it’s a darn nice ride.
With so little corporate support and overhead expenses, GM’s making good money on Camaro.
Absolutely. All they do is refresh the front and rear facia and make a mold and pour the plastic or what ever. Interior is still the same and ugly and a last minute prom date.
Quick question. I’m planning on talking to a dealership about placing an order for a 2022 Camaro, built to my liking. From my understanding, prices for everything such as colors, options, and the cars themselves haven’t been released yet, if and when I talk to a salesman, would they be able to give me an exact price, something in the ballpark, or would I not know price range wise until the car comes? Any answers would be appreciated. Thanks.
I’m actually happy about them going to black-only tops. I’ve got 2019 in Riverside Blue with the Kalahari top and it will make it more unique than it already is (I have yet to see that combo on the road or online).
