2021 Buick Envision Avenir In Rich Garnet Metallic: Live Photo Gallery

Making its debut in May of 2020, the 2021 Buick Envision introduces a brand-new second generation for the crossover, ushering in a wealth of changes and updates. Among these is the launch of a new range-topping Avenir trim level, a first for the Envision nameplate. Now, we’re talking a walk around the premium 2021 Buick Envision Avenir crossover in the following GM Authority Live Photo Gallery.

As before with the 2020 model year, the 2021 Buick Envision resides between the larger Enclave and the smaller Encore / Encore GX with regard to the Buick model hierarchy. Offered as a compact four-door crossover utility vehicle (CUV), the Buick Envision comes with two rows of seating inside the cabin, while the new Avenir trim level tops the mid-range Essence and entry-level Preferred in the the 2021 Envision trim level lineup.

Previously, the 2020 Buick Envision was offered in five trim levels, listed from base to range-topper as 1SV, Preferred, Essence, Premium, and Premium II, making the new Avenir trim an indirect replacement for the Premium and Premium II trims.

With the introduction of the 2021 model year, the Buick Envision features all-new styling that takes inspiration from the 2018 Buick Enspire concept, while the fresh new lines of this particular example are draped in Rich Garnet Metallic paint. The Rich Garnet Metallic paint option is offered as a Premium color upgrade For the Avenir trim level, priced at $495. Four other Premium paint colors are also offered, while Summit White is available at no cost.

The front end of the 2021 Buick Envision Avenir features a broad grille section with a polished mesh insert and chrome upper styling bar bracketing the Tri-Shield Buick logo. The horizontal styling line is continued with horizontal lighting signatures in the headlamps, which feature LED lighting elements with automatic on/off and IntelliBeam. Lower sections of the front fascia are body-colored, while further chrome trim can be found in the lower corners.

The profile reveals 20-inch aluminum wheels with an Avenir Peal Nickel finish, a standard feature of the 2021 Buick Envision Avenir. Up top is a set of silver-finish roof rails, while lower in the body, we find heated power outside mirrors and body-colored door handles with a chrome strip. The sills are body-colored as well.

Finally, the rear end mirrors the horizontal styling elements up front with LED tail lights. Further chrome styling elements are added in the lower corners of the bumper, while a faux skid plate element finishes.

The 2021 Buick Envision rides on the GM E2 platform, and is powered by the turbocharged 2.0L I4 LSY gasoline engine, which is rated at 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. The four-cylinder engine connects to a nine-speed automatic transmission, which feeds FWD as standard. The 2021 Envision also offers twin-clutch AWD as an optional upgrade.

Production takes place at the GM-SAIC Jinqiao Plant in Shanghai, China, with sales available in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and China.

  1. Looks great except for the Pep Boys clear taillights from 2001. But obviously somebody powerful at GM thinks those are *very* cool and classy because they make Cadillac do it sometimes too.

    1. Probably cheaper to make clear plastic parts and use colored LEDs than to use colored lenses and clear bulbs. Some cars definitely look better than others with clear lenses.

  3. Love it or not based on where it is produced, it is a beautiful design by GM. Please more attention to design and detail like this!
I’ve been renting Chevy’s lately (Equinox, Malibu) and though the vehicle handling is solid and power if fine I can’t help but be put-off by the cheap and unsophisticated interiors. I understand Chevy is the entry level but when you compare to the competition (like Toyota, Nissan, etc.) the American vehicles feel a step behind and less sophisticated. Hopefully GM can continue to make special vehicles that are desirable to a broader, younger audience.

  6. Rich Garnet is too dark and too much “on the blue side” of the color spectrum. Same for the Dark Moon Blue color.

  7. I don’t care what color it is. I don’t care if you plated it in gold.
I will never buy this Chinese product.
