At the recent reveal of the 2022 Chevy Corvette IMSA GTLM Championship Edition, GM Authority noticed that some members of Team Corvette were wearing very special footwear. Specifically, their lower portions were adorned with Piloti Corvette Racing Spyder S1 driving shoes.
The shoe is a special version of Piloti’s Spyder S1 inspired by Corvette Racing. Special design elements of the shoe includes the black and yellow Corvette Racing color scheme and the famous Jake/skull logo.
Otherwise, the shoe is the same as the regular Spyder S1, which features a spherical heel which protects and cushions the heelbone, plus a reinforced lateral side of the right shoe that protects the driver’s foot from heat, friction and vibration, and allow for smooth and rapid braking during heel and toe down shifts.
The shoe has also been designed to be comfortable in non-racing situations, such as on the street, out on the town or in the office.
The Piloti Corvette Racing Spyder S1 went on sale in 2017, originally priced at $135 per pair. An unused set is currently for sale on eBay, priced ambitiously at $750. That’s because the shoes are not available for purchase from Piloti or other retailers, at least as of this writing.
For those who missed it the first time round, the Corvette IMSA GTLM Championship Edition is essentially a 2022 Chevy Corvette Stingray in the 3LT trim level with the Z51 Performance Package plus a graphics package intended to mimic the No. 3 and No. 4 Corvette C8.R racers which swept the Manufacturers, Drivers and Teams titles in the 2020 IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship. The extra equipment adds $6,595 to the price of a 2022 Corvette Stingray 3LT.
Chevrolet says it plans to build a limited run of 1,000 examples of the vehicle. All of these will be left-hand-drive, though the mid-engine Corvette is also built in right-hand-drive form for export markets at the GM Bowling Green plant in Kentucky.

When will Corvette bring back the manual transmission? Thank you, Dr. William D. Guentzler
Buy a Ferrari and get a real car. And who cares about shoes, what a goofy site this is
If you had a Ferrari, you most likely would not be on this blog..
For real, who talks crap on a post about driving shoes?
Kindly move along with your negativity
Hey ferrari boy, lose that joke of a car and step up to a corvette.
Haven’t you seen the Ferrari shoes?
I like the design and it looks very high quality and well put together but what’s the deal with garish brand name at the both ends?
The Piloti corvette driving shoes I bought at the Ron Fellows driving academy are heavy! Way heavier than the one’s I brought with me. They noticeably affected my pedal control and were just tiring to wear. I loved the look and the construction was top notch but I just couldn’t get past the weight of them to use them.
My opinion piloti is way overdue introducing a new Corvette shoe I thought they totally quit making them I wish they would continue to make the shoes more often I checked their website websites several X
Haaaa corvette shoes.
I’m sure all the gay corvette guys will just love them.
I’m curious…..soo…..not counting me……how many gay Corvette guys do you know……what, your a member of the gay Corvette owners club…………..damn, I didn’t even know there was a club…….
Dang even more hate here?
For talking crap about people being gay, you’re the one who seems butthurt bro
Yea when they make them in ORANGE!
It’s basically a bottom made of plastic that feels like. It’s already as hard as rock. Are you curious as to the reasoning behind this material and converse shoes? It appears to be able to slide over or other metals? It’s almost as if it could work better on the pedals of a streetcar that are rubberized.
My husband got a black pair two years ago! I have been looking to buy him another pair
