Vintage trucks are cool. One need only take a look at the collector car market of the past several years to see how rabid the following for vintage American trucks and SUVs has been. Many of those have been restomodded into stunning show-caliber vehicles you’d be afraid to drive, much less use for their intended practical uses, but this 1955 Chevy 3100 pickup breaks that mold. Its heavy patina finish lets you enjoy a classic big-window truck without fear.
The exterior of this Chevy 3100 has all the weather-worn patina you’d expect from a sixty-six-year-old pickup. Small nicks, scratches, and ample surface rust can be found. The hood has been sun and weather beaten, as have the tops of the fenders and cab. The painted bumpers and grille have long since lost their painted white finish. The Bow Tie hood emblem has a dull finish. However, modern steel wheels, painted an ivory shade and sporting polished trim rings and dog dish hub caps, let you know there may be more here than meets the eye. A quick glance inside the bed of the truck reveals a beautifully finished oak with polished stainless trim, not the hammered rot one might expect.
The cab of the Chevy 3100 is an exercise in contradiction. Though the doors have some artificial patina to match the exterior, the bench seat has been upholstered in a gorgeous brown distressed leather. A set of cup holders made from brushed stainless and wrapped in the same brown leather is mounted to the front center of the bench. Mounted to the black-painted custom tilt steering column is a glossy black banjo steering wheel with polished center. Housed in the two-tone brown and cream painted dash is a full set of Dolphin gauges in a chrome surround. Vintage Air controls are also housed in the dash, and vents for the Vintage Air system are mounted beneath. The shifter for the transmission is floor-mounted.
The Chevy 3100’s engine compartment has a few more surprises in store. A Small Block 350 V8 has been installed for reliability and ease of maintenance. The engine wears a polished billet belt drive system, A/C compressor, and is dressed with finned polished valve covers, oil breathers, and air cleaner cover. A large modern aluminum radiator keeps things cool. The 3100 is equipped with power brakes, power steering, and a Mustang II front end. The engine compartment is reasonably tidy and quite presentable.
This Chevy 3100 is offered by Collector Car Studio for $41,900.

I absolutely HATE the rubber band tires/huge wheels, fix that and i love this truck.
Is it really made that way or painted and rusted to look that way?
“Heavy patina”. Translation: junk heap.

As a auto painter for 35 years I have no use for a vehicle to look like this just finish the truck and if it’s not a rust bucket it surely would make one Sweet little hotrod!
