GMC Hummer EV One Of The Most Watched Reveals In GM history

The debut event for the GMC Hummer EV was one of the most watched product reveals in General Motors’ history, the automaker revealed last week.

The GMC Hummer EV pickup made its official debut during a live-streamed event held on October 20th, 2020. The online debut event could be viewed on several of GMC’s social media pages, including on its YouTube channel and its Facebook and Twitter pages. This live-streamed debut event also coincided with a television debut that was broadcast during commercial breaks for Game 1 of the MLB World Series and NBC’s The Voice.

During a recent fireside chat with Credit Suisse, GM CEO Mary Barra said the live-streamed debut event for the GMC Hummer EV was among the most-watched vehicle debuts in the automaker’s history and helped drive record-breaking traffic to the GMC website.

“We’ve had incredible interest in that vehicle,” Barra said during the media appearance. “It was one of the most watched reveals in history, and created the highest website traffic of any GM models ever.”

GM immediately began accepting pre-orders for the GMC Hummer EV First Edition following the debut, quickly selling out of all the available pre-order slots it had. Customers were charged $100 to put their name on the waiting list for the Hummer EV First Edition, which will enter production at the automaker’s Factory Zero plant later this year. Pricing for the Hummer EV Edition 1, which is loaded with nearly every option available for the Hummer EV, starts at $112,595.

While reservations for the GMC Hummer EV Edition 1 are already full, customers can still pre-order the lesser EV3X, EV2X and EV2 trim level models. The EV3X trim is priced from $99,995 and will enter production in Fall 2022, while the Hummer EV2X will start at $89,995 and will arrive shortly after in Spring 2023. The base Hummer EV2 model will not arrive until Spring 2024 and is priced from $79,995.

  1. No surprise that there is a lot of interest in the Hummer EV, it appeals across boundaries from the off road Hummerish types to the more suburban green types being an EV. Many young and old seem to be attracted to the design. Clearly a design hit for GM, that I put right up there with C8.

  2. If GM can build a full size EV truck why are they NOT offering a midsized, similar to Ridgeline’s. Maybe if they name it Mary Barra’s EV truck it final will be developed.I don’t care what they call it I need it in my future as many others.Build it on the XR2 platform. would make great LITTLE brother for the Hummer, just saying.

    1. GM is planning to build a Colorado size EV in the future. Only so many engineers, can’t build the whole wish list at once. Hummer production this year, Silverado EV next year, and likely Colorado sized Ev in 2023 or 2024
