General Motors has shared the first image of the 2022 Chevy Camaro finished in the vibrant new Vivid Orange Metallic exterior paint color.
The new Vivid Orange Metallic paint color (RPO code GCF) is set to replace the current orange hue on the Camaro’s color pallette, Crush. The Crush orange color is a gloss paint, whereas Vivid Orange has a shinier metallic finish and also appears slightly darker. Chevy has not said how much Vivid Orange Metallic will cost to order, but the Orange hue that it replaces carried a $395 price premium.
Vivid Orange Metallic is one of two new exterior colors offered on the 2022 Chevy Camaro – the other being Rapid Blue, which replaces the eyepopping yellow-ish green Shock color. Chevy provided us with a sneak preview of the Chevy Camaro in Rapid Blue at the NASCAR season-opener in Daytona back in February, where a Rapid Blue Camaro served as the official pace car.
GM has planned numerous changes and updates for the 2022 Chevy Camaro. The sports coupe will lose one wheel option, will do away with the Kalahari beige interior color and the 1LE performance track pack will no longer be available on LT trim level models. A new Design Package 3 option will give customers a new personalization option, however, bundling together various exterior accessories including satin black hood stripes, a black fuel filler cap and Camaro-branded wheel center caps. Chevy will also offer a new copper-free performance brake pad for the eco-friendly states of Washington and California.
The start of production for the 2022 Chevy Camaro was previously pushed back from June 14th to September 20th. The delay is likely related to the recent production line stoppage at the GM Lansing Grand River Assembly plant in Michigan where the Camaro is produced, which was caused by a shortage of semiconductor chips.

New Orange looks pretty cool in the photos, nice new color option
You can tell when a company has run out of ideas for a model,Instead of paint colors how about a new body style
1980 Z28 had burnt orange colour.
Now instruct your dealers to order the Camaro exactly like this in different colors when y’all decide to build this car next year haha.
Also don’t assume everyone wants the black interior either.
When dealers order for stock. They are playing percentages. If you want a lower percentage option, it’s best to special order it. Most dealers find their niche in the marketplace and stick with it. It’s a numbers game for dealers. They aren’t collectors and they rarely gamble on small percentage vehicles. Especially, in this market.
@dblezy – When we receive the allocated order, Chevrolet also provides a list of constraints, so it’s not as easy as saying, “yes, I’ll take one just like that”. May times we are forced to take what’s available that week or we lose the order.
Same bad CGI pictures. GM’s marketing & ad is terrible.
Looks sexy as f.. and some want to kill this beast, what are you, crazy?
I’ll go with just build cars that are ordered by real people, not just what produces numbers. They can force build cars that aren’t ordered to sell later on.
Awesome ride!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I worked at Stealerships way too long .
First off I didn’t know they charged for certain colors,Other then Vans .And this Orange (?)
Should have been Hugger Orange!!!
Again I say lost Company!
Crush is hugger orange, someone scooped up the patent on “hugger orange” and CHEVROLET, or anyone else, can not use the name hugger orange. The paint is the same only the name has changed.
I think all Camaro enthusiasts would agree, they should make a mid engine Camaro. And bring back the 1LE package. I have a 2016 RS and with the V6 pushing over 430bhp. Its a winner. Yes been modified. Lol
I support you ideal there are rendered pictures of a mid engine Camaro
The it’s not a Camaro, at best it’s a fiero or corvair…lol
That Kalahari that they are discontinuing would go great with this color.
Yes it would but probably couldn’t get it. You couldn’t get Kalahari with crush. They should let people order interior colors with any exterior color they offer.
I love my orange interior on my 2018 Hot Wheels CAMARO.
Why discontinue if you do at least make the Camaro a heritage package I grew up seeing this car and so have others so just grow some balls and put a tuned 7.0 from the c7 Corvette stingray
It would be amazing to put a 7.0 from a C7 Stingray, especially if you can actually find one.
No C7 ever came with a 7.0l stock.
That was kind of my point.
PLEASE, don’t stop making the Camaro’ that’s my dream Car and I am waiting for one. Camaro is a beautiful vehicle and I hope it will be around for awhile Hope the chip situation ends soon, because I will be glad to put my car on the Road
Its nice they are working on 22 models,I ordered a ZL1 months ago have not got it yet.Maybe they need to focus on cars that have not shipped first.
2022 won’t start until September now according to a earlier report. Orders are closed i believe on 2021 so it will get built just going to take time with the computer chips slowly coming back into stock.
GM canceled my 2021 1SS 1le order last week. They have buyers but can’t produce cars.
FROM CANADA SHOULD OF LEFT IT HERE . WE BUILT THE BEST ONES
Yep, that was where my 2013 ZL1 came from and I still love it to this day. Not one issue.
Yeah, I agree, but that ain’t gonna’ happen.
Nothing like hugger orange 99
Chevrolet Camaro is done….Nothing new about GM
I have to disagree, crush is the same paint formula. Someone beat CHEVROLET to the punch and bought the patent on the name “hugger orange” so nobody can use the name hugger orange. You can still use the paint formula of hugger orange but you cannot call it hugger orange. I would imagine that whoever owns the patent probably wants a small fortune it and CHEVROLET chose to use a different name rather than purchase the patent. Also 1969 was the original hugger orange.
Don’t think I’m the only one but i think they should do another retro restyle with a 70 or 71 body style
In my opinion if CHEVROLET would reproduce the 1969 CAMARO they would not be able to built enough of them.
Please change the dash
and the horrible horrible tailights!!
I thought the Camaro was discontinued after this model year.
Gorgeous.
Such a great car!
Strap the orange.. bring on the mid-engine Camaro..Please..pretty please
Really 7liter from c7 lmk when you find one
If you have not driven a new Camaro, it is well worth your effort to do so. Engineered for drivers! I’m liking this new Orange, can’t wait to see it up close and in the sunlight.
I’m willing to bet it’s a TRI coat finish. A transparent color pearl laid over the base color. Then cleared. That’s where that deep rich color comes from..
The Camaro is looking more and more like a Mustang and losing it’s unique identity. C’mon Chevy, come up with your own ideas.
That paint is most likely a TRI coat. Or even a quad coat.. if so.. That 395.00 will look like pocket change. If you don’t know what a TRI or quad coat is.. Google it. You’ll see
When the brand new car ZL go out???
How about Chevy advertise the camaro. I have never seen a commercial for this gen Camaro. When this gen came out it had excellent reviews and many magazines always say this is the better engineered car over the mustang and challenger
It’s not
Nice color looks good bring back the Z 28 with the 7 L
Time for a Yenco 7 liter Camaro tribute…800 plus H.P….give the hellcat a run for its money…
I have a 20 krush 1le, and a 20 grey Z conv. I love the front end look better than the other camaros. I still love camaros as a whole, there’s nothing wrong with switching up colors every few yrs. It wouldn’t be the same if everyone had same car/color all the time. Keep up the sweet lookin rides CHEVY!!
I guess GM figures there is no point in advertising the Camaro now, as dealers don’t have any to sell and production has halted or slowed due to chip shortages, and its just about time for the production to change from 21’s to 22s….. too bad, as auto writers keep claiming that Camaro sales are dragging behind competitors like Mustang, Challengers, and some foreign cars…….Like someone here said, you never see any ads for Camaros
The blue is hideous. The orange is gorgeous. I own a 2019 ss 6sp with the track package in red hot red. She’s a beast. My only complaint would be where the traction control button is . It’s easily hit while shifting. Also summer only tires are a joke on these cars. I’ve went threw 3 sets of tires in a year. I had to go with a harder compound tire threw Nitto. I got 7,000 miles out the first set of summer only.
That blue reminds me of Vega in the 1970s
Sounds about right.
Hopefully we can get one.
I would agree, the orange is very cool and I don’t normally like orange, that blue however, is the worst shade of blue ever in my HO…. I have a 2020 2SS in Garnet Red, I love this car, more than some recent Vetts I’ve owned
I want a return of the synergy green metallic or something close to it. My 2011 camaro still gets compliments and with the black decals just looks stunning. C’mon GM, get this done and now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have a 98 Z28 and honestly I’d love to see GM do something geared more toward the 4th gen body style with all the modern updates all around. My car is much more of a head turner than all the new Camaros on the road that have absolutely zero individuality at all. They all look the same. I’d take my 98 Z or a sweet WS6 over any one of the new Camaros. They are way to generic looking and do nothing for me. Ya ok they are fast but so is an 87 GNX. Any car can be made to go fast it’s about the style and personal touch that one puts in the car and all the new Camaros look like the same person owns them all. If I was on the road and saw a mint 89 Formula or any mint 4th gen like mine it’s so much more exciting than the overkill of mustangs and Camaros out there. They need to go away. Bring back the 3rd and 4th gens with all the modern updates. Now that would be a car worth looking twice at! Sorry Camaro owners the new Z just isn’t doing it for me
That color really looks mean, my goodness ! Sadly what keep people far away of the car was price , the more expensive in 2016 vs competition. Plus bed line ( specially doors ) to high for peoples flavors including me. I’m sure if the belt line was lower the car could be the best seller.
What is under the hood is it a super charge engine or not??
V8 Mid Engine Camaro Would Be Awesome!
Do It!
Do It!
Do It!
A GORGEOUS car, inside and out!! I hope they change their mind and don’t discontinue the Camaro!
GM … in sticking to Mary’s guns, and building strictly gas/diesel engined cars or full on EVs (no hybrid offerings) will probably bastardize the Camaro name (like the blue oval boys did with the mustang) and create the new Camaro zE-28 electric sports car.
i had a 2019 rally sport payed 25000 sticker was 31000 owned it 4 22 months sold it for 27000 2.700 miles on it had lots of equity retired payed 2 cars off going to order 2022 rs v6 this engine is 1 of wards ten best best handling camaro with the caddy platfofm good looks great milage fun road trip car .
Need to definitely change the instrument panel and get rid of the Mickey Mouse ears look.
Also the front facia looks strange.
