Molson Coors has launched a new contest that offers beer drinkers a chance to win a fully restored 1977 Pontiac Firebird.
This contest is essentially a scavenger hunt for the 1977 Pontiac Firebird in question. Participants can enter by registering at www.coorsbanquetmobile.com starting at 7 a.m. Mountain Time on Thursday, June 3rd. They will then receive their first clue with regard to the car’s location via email on Friday, June 11th at 7 a.m. MT. Once the first clue is found, participants will be required to scan a QR code and take a selfie at the location in order to receive their next clue. The hunt will close once the car is found and an official winner is verified.
Coors says this contest celebrates the history of Coors Banquet. Brewed only in Colorado, this beer was often smuggled across state lines to parts of the country where it was not officially sold. The 1977 Pontiac Firebird prize car was once used to smuggle the beer across state lines, making it an appropriate prize for this scavenger hunt-style contest.
“Almost 150 years later, Coors Banquet is still brewed only in Colorado,” Nigel Jones, senior marketing manager for the Coors Family of Brands, said in a statement. “To celebrate the brand’s rich history and reward our adventurous drinkers this summer, we’re giving fans a chance to seek out the ultimate prize – a ’77 Firebird and Coors Banquet for a year. It’s the perfect way to kick-off summer and remind people that Banquet has been so coveted that in the past, it was literally considered to be contraband.”
The search is open to those over the age of 21 who hold a valid driver’s license and will take place in Colorado. Those who are too far away from the clue locations can also participate in trivia questions via Coors Banquet’s Instagram page for their chance to win a free year’s supply of the beer.
Happy hunting, Pontiac fans!

The most sought after car? Did they not see the movie Smokey And The Bandit? The car was a Firebird Trans Am, not a base Firebird.
You’re exactly right! This is not a TA! I owned a base model in 86. It wasn’t as fast, but I loved it!
Do you have to be a beer drinker to win the car I think that everyone should be allowed to try to win this car . It would only be fair to let everyone that wants to try to win the car get in on this even though you may not drink beer it’s only fair I myself would love to win this car it’s my dream car and I’ve always wanted one
Too bad they could not locate an original 1977 Black and Gold Trans Am like in the movie.

I want this sooo bad! I owned a 1984 Firebird, in 1986. I loved my Firebird! I’ve owned many cars in the 56 years I’ve been here. None other compares.. My first husband, painted it Mariner Blue, in Emron, with 50% more metal flake. It was beautiful! Three weeks later, he was driving, and decided to race his friend that owned a Camaro. He was going to fast, one of the aluminum mag rims snapped, and he took out 100 feet of fence, crashed into a telephone pole, cracked it, causing the transformer to blow. The telephone pole, buried behind the driver’s seat. He still had to turn it off after the crash was over. That car was fast, handled like a dream, and the seat fit me like a glove. My mom, bought it for me when my Dad got a settlement. Its been a dream of mine to own another.
