After completing the pre-order period for the all-new Buick Envision Plus in China, which began earlier this month, General Motors has just officially launched Buick’s latest crossover in the Asian country. The new Envision Plus arrives to further strengthen the brand’s offering in the increasingly popular compact utility vehicle segment, as the third-largest member of the Envision family in the Chinese market.
The official launch ceremony of the all-new Buick Envision Plus was held on June 19th at the SAIC-GM Dong Yue plant in the city of Yantai, where the new variant of the second-generation model is manufactured, just like the two other versions of the Envision for China. GM’s goal is to position the nameplate as the nation’s best-selling range of utility vehicles.
“The new Envision Plus will expand Buick’s appeal to more family-oriented customers, offering the styling, performance, premium appointments and technology-focused user experience that they appreciate,” said Executive Director of Buick Sales and Marketing at SAIC-GM, Molly Peck, in a statement. “With the newest entry, Buick is further strengthening its SUV presence to satisfy customers’ diverse needs, forging ahead to become a leading SUV nameplate in China,” she added.
The all-new Buick Envision Plus is being launched in the Chinese market with a total of five variants spread out through three trim levels, including the base Elite, the mid-range Luxury and the range-topping Avenir. The next-generation crossover introduces a new category in C utility segment, offering increased roominess with five- and seven-passenger seating layouts, combined with advanced technology and several convenience features.
In addition to this, and boasting the latest evolution of the brand’s “Sculptural Beauty” exterior design language, the new Buick Envision Plus stands out because it comes standard with a mild hybrid powertrain designed exclusively for China. It consists of the turbo 2.0L LSY four-cylinder engine that works in conjunction with a 48-volt electrical system to generate 233 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, mated to GM’s nine-speed automatic transmission.
The 2022 Buick Envision Plus is already on sale throughout the Tri-Shield brand’s official dealer network in China, with an exhaustive technological and advanced safety feature list. The Elite and Luxury trims are available in five exterior colors and two interior color options, while the Avenir variant adds the signature Merlot Red Wine paint for the ultimate expression of Buick refinement. Here are the prices for each of the five variants:
- Envision Plus Elite: 229,900 CNY (about $35,550 USD at the current exchange rate)
- Envision Plus Luxury: 252,900 CNY ($39,100 USD)
- Envision Plus Luxury 7 Seats: 262,900 CNY ($40,650 USD)
- Envision Plus Avenir: 295,900 CNY ($45,750 USD)
- Envision Plus Avenir 7 Seats: 309,900 CNY ($47,920 USD)

It’s probably laced with lead paint, built with inferior metal, and equipped with an infotainment system that reports your conversations to the CCP.
It reports how many seats are occupied and sends out your GPS location so they can do something about your unauthorized extra offspring.
Hey member you mean like the cheap crap push-in and dent paint on my wife’s American made Buick Enclave? China is Buicks best sales market unfortunately we the American people are Partly to blame for this while we bought Toyota’s, Honda’s, Kia’s and Hyundai’s… We made fun of Buick labelled them “old people cars” and stopped buying them… It’s a shame because some 90’s and 2000’s era Buicks where great cars but Americans shunned them.
The white Buick Envision Plus in the top photo reminds me of a Buick Tour-X.
I think Envision Plus is intended to fill that missing Opel designed elevated wagon segment now that cost sharing won’t be possible with Russelheim.
If the sedan space is shrinking so this will aid GM capture sales. Evidently the next Insignia will be a MVP as well
This could do well in the US against upper trim Highlanders, Ascents, etc.
I own a 2017 Envision. Premier2…and I love it. the ride is great. some of the features needed to be redesigned but other than that..its a great car.
Not bad looking at all! Which means it’s too handsome for China, but this new fad of naming vehicles “Plus” and “Pro” is incredibly lame which puts it squarely on target for China.
Well I still love my Buick regal tourx and my 2011 Buick enclave with over 200,000 miles and it is a cream puff virgin to repairs best car ever owned
My wife bought a 2021 Envision Avenir back in January. She likes it, but I like the looks of the longer versions better. To me, the back on the 2021 looks cut off. It’s still a very nice little SUV, though.
