The 2022 GMC Sierra HD will introduce a few changes and updates over the current 2021 model-year vehicle, unlike the fully refreshed 2022 GMC Sierra 1500. One of the updates includes the deletion of two exterior paint colors.
The two exterior paint colors set for discontinuation include Brownstone Metallic, paint code GNK, and Carbon Black Metallic, paint code GCI. Brownstone Metallic was available in conjunction with all interior color combinations and all trim levels of the 2021 GMC Sierra HD, with the exception of the Denali trim. Meanwhile, Carbon Black Metallic was only offered with the range-topping Denali trim level. Both hues cost an extra $495. A new paint color called Forest Metallic will be added to the palette for the 2022 model year.
Rather than introduce a full refresh, like the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500, the 2022 GMC Sierra HD will include just a handful of changes and updates. Among these is a new name for the base model trim level, which will be referred to as the “Pro” trim level going forward, most likely as a reference to the working professionals who usually purchase the entry-level trim of the heavy-duty pickup. The new name will apply to both the 2022 GMC Sierra 2500HD, and the 2022 GMC Sierra 3500HD.
As for the greasy bits, the 2022 GMC Sierra HD will continue to offer the 6.6L V8 L8T gasoline engine, which is rated at 401 horsepower at 5,200 rpm and 464 pound-feet of torque at 4,000 rpm, and the 6.6L V8 L5P turbodiesel Duramax, which is rated at 445 horsepower at 2,800 rpm and 910 pound-feet of torque at 1,600 rpm. Transmission duties are handled by a six-speed automatic for the gasoline engine, and a 10-speed automatic for the diesel.
Production of the 2022 GMC Sierra HD is expected to kick off on July 12th, 2021, while the refreshed Sierra 1500 will start rolling off the line in September. The Sierra HD will receive a full model refresh later for the 2023 model year.

Bring on more silver and gray colors????
I can’t believe there is still not a 10 speed for the 6.6 gas.
Any new colors for the 2022 GMC Denali 1500? Will power tail gate up be available for 2022?
Made in Mexico trash again. Can’t believe General Mexico is still in business
HD’s aren’t built in Mexico. I guess you don’t read too well.
Some of GM stuff is and NONE of it should be built in Mexico or anywhere outside this country!
HD’s are made in Flint, Michigan
Silver is mediocre. No sale gray should be next. More Dark Blues and Burgandy.
