2022 Chevy Silverado HD To Lose This One Exterior Color

Unlike the fully refreshed light-duty 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500, the upcoming 2022 Chevy Silverado HD is set to introduce just a few small updates and changes over the current 2021 model year. One of the changes slated for the 2022 Chevy Silverado HD is the deletion of the Oxford Brown Metallic exterior color.

Currently, the Chevy Silverado HD offers Oxford Brown Metallic as a no-cost paint option for the 2021 model year. The exterior color is also available with both interior color options, which include Jet Black, and Gideon/Very Dark Atmosphere.

With the introduction of the 2022 Chevy Silverado HD, Oxford Brown Metallic will be replaced with a new exterior color, namely Greenstone Metallic.

Late in May, GM Authority uncovered the 2022 Chevy Silverado production timeframe, including the start of regular production (SORP) for the 2022 Chevy Silverado HD. As mentioned previously, the 2022 Chevy Silverado HD will start rolling off the line as early as July 12th, 2021. However, that date may still change, given possible interruptions and delays stemming from the ongoing global microchip shortage.

Production of the 2022 Chevy Silverado HD will take place at GM’s facility in Flint, Michigan. Meanwhile, later this year, production of the light-duty Silverado will be extended to GM Oshawa Assembly in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada.

What’s more, the 2022 Chevy Silverado HD will offer the Multi-Flex tailgate across all trim levels. Per an announcement released in May, both 2500HD and 3500HD Silverado models will offer the feature alongside to the segment-exclusive Power Up/Down Tailgate option, the latter of which is available on LT, LTZ, and High Country Silverado HD trim levels.

GM Authority was the first to report that the Chevy Silverado would offer the Multi-Flex tailgate. Like the GMC MultiPro tailgate, the Chevrolet Multi-Flex tailgate offers multiple positions to accommodate a variety of conditions, including a Full Width Step, an Inner Gate Load Stop, and, an Inner Gate Work Surface.

  1. For the love of god… do you all at GM authority receive an incentive for each time you use the word “hue”?!

  2. gm has always had brown color options for the exterior of their trucks, but overall, that color option would never stick to well with customers, better off just leaving the brown paint with the UPS Trucks.

  3. Okay this is old news, “no more brown” probably not a high demand color. I am thinking the new color Green Stone is not going to be either. It seems like white, black and red win year after year in that order. I have not been able to see the new color anywhere. My Chevy truck is silver “pewter” , why would GM get rid of this color choice. The 2500 has had some updates I am told. The wheels are new, the green color also new. Now if GM wants to make some changes that matter, I would start with the interior. A larger touch screen 10″ maybe, a better seat would really be nice. One last thought, why is the “High Country trucks” equipped with painted bumpers. They look great for a month or two, until the chips from road debris takes it toll on them. I like the LTZ just because of the chrome bumpers.
