Exactly one year after the launch of the 2021 Buick LaCrosse in China, which boasts new features and a higher level of refinement, General Motors is introducing the 2022 model year of Buick’s flagship sedan with a noteworthy addition for the Asian country. The automaker created a new variant of the 2022 Buick LaCrosse Avenir with a more competitive price, focused on executive transportation companies.
This new version of the 2022 Buick LaCrosse Avenir, which is called “Pre-Shared,” is a second configuration for the model that maintains exactly the same design, but with fewer comfort features than the regular range-topping edition, now known as “Flagship.” As such, this is the first time that more than one Avenir configuration has been offered for the LaCrosse in the Chinese market.
Like the existing variant, the newly launched 2022 Buick LaCrosse Avenir Pre-Shared keeps the core elements of Buick’s “sculptural beauty” design language as well as the distinctive, more refined finish of the Avenir models. In addition to the signature Merlot Red Wine exterior hue of the brand’s flagship vehicles, the new LaCrosse Avenir Pre-Shared is offered in Jade Black for business customers who prefer a more discreet look.
This new version of the Buick LaCrosse Avenir also adopts a second interior color alongside the existing beige. As standard, the LaCrosse Avenir Pre-Shared features a light gray cabin that remains aesthetically the same. However, this new edition loses several comfort features such as the rear-seat massage function, the infotainment control panel in the center console and the power-operated rear sunshades.
Mechanically, both variants of the 2022 Buick LaCrosse Avenir retain the turbocharged 2.0L LSY four-cylinder engine that produces 233 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. The sole powertrain choice is managed by the GM nine-speed automatic transmission.
The new 2022 Buick LaCrosse Avenir Pre-Shared is available throughout the entire dealer network starting in June, which also introduces the latest generation of Buick’s infotainment system that integrates wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with an advanced suite of active safety features. Its suggested price is 265,800 CNY, or about $41,640 USD at the current exchange rate.

I’ve driven a Buick Lacrosse. It’s gorgeous, quiet, and refined with an ample-sized engine. It’s such a shame that they took it away from the North American market.
I agreed! It’s such a shame that we won’t get these beautiful sedans (also the China-only Lincoln Zephyr) due to the American consumers shifting away from sedans in general, under capitalism we have to prioritize on maximizing the profit and that’s the sad truth.
Gen GSX:
If you were a GM stockholder, would you want it any other way?
And personally I’m glad the Lincoln Zephyr will stay in China. A terribly ugly, clumsy, Audi ripp-off.
This has nothing to to do to Americans shifting to SUV’s. The big 3 can build pickup chassis vehicles with much higher profit than cars. Relatives that work at GM & FCA said, by pushing people into SUVs like you really need one is all marketing. Yes profit is the motif!
CAFE standards also had the unintended effect of making big cars anathema but trucks still acceptable, even if the cars had a lower profile, got better gas mileage, were less deadly to pedestrians, and were about as roomy.
I HAVE A ’17 LaCROSSE ESSENCE IN SILVER AND LOVE IT!! BUT I WOULD BUY ONE OF THESE CHINA VERSIONS IN A HEARTBEAT IF THEY IMPORTED THEM TO U.S. I LOVE THE NEW FRONT END AND BACK END ON THEM. MORE STYLISH!
Dang, that is a sharp-looking car, and the color is amazing, It may not be a huge market but I bet still significant in numbers that Buick here in the United States could somehow find a spot for this in its lineup. With this sharing the platform with the Impala it could still make sense. Well maybe it is for the best because General Motors here would put a 3 cylinder engine in it, and a cheap fisher price plastic interior, never advertise it, and then cancel it because of lower-than-expected sales figures. It is funny that a properly run company such as Toyota even though sales of its sedans are shrinking can still make a business case for updated large and midsize sedans, the same can be said of Hyundai and KIa, there is still a market. Not everyone wants a underpowered car based CUV. If Harley Earl could see the state of Buick now. Sad very sad
Morgan Jessica Grafton:
I agree about the appearance of the LaCrosse. I honestly think its one of the most beautiful cars of the last decade.
But you speak as though it was never offered here. It was. Or didn’t you know that? And it had a beautiful interior. The same interior as thw Chinese market car.And it was advertised. I saw ads all the time. Or didn’t you know that?
Morgan Jessica, Buick did next to zilch in marketing the last Lacrosse, Regal and Tour X. And this Lacrosse with its last update with some effort would sell decently I believe. I’ve talked to a couple Buick salesman and they say previous Verano, Lacrosse owners are not trading their cars for one of the crossovers but going to other makers for a car….they still want a car. Since the Lacrosse should be ok for U.S. specifications why not let the dealers who have these customers bring some over? GM seems to think Cadillac can still sell cars. And you’re right about Harley Earl.
Right! People don’t know what they want until they know all the choices. Not everyone is as car-obsessed as we who post here. I can’t help thinking GM would still be selling the LaCrosse, Regal, Impala, and the next generation SS, post-Holden, if it had only advertised them.
El problema no es Buick , el problema es y siempre fue Cadillac , Buick es construcción , es tecnología es victorias y valla que las supo tener , y Cadillac tiembla
The Buick Lacrosse has been a WONDERFUL vehicles. I had a 2007 & 2013. Both of them served me EXTREMELY WELL! I’m disappointed this vehicle is not returning to our markets. I will miss her!!!
I went from a cad ct4 to a lacrosse, love it…..yes, there are still those that want sedans AND they don’t want electric! Still waiting for the Escala…and waiting and waiting…..
Strangely enough, electric could save the sedan or the car-based hatchback, maybe even bring back the station wagon. I just wouldn’t count on GM doing it.
I have had 2 Lacrosse, 2010 & 2015. Loved both so much I searched the internet for a used 2019. Last year made. Found one about 50 miles away with 8500 miles. Still love the 6 cylinder but don’t really like the auto stop, but adjusting. Can’t believe the Chinese are the only people that love Lacrosse. Hope Gm will reconsider and bring them back.
There is an aftermarket device available that will defeat the auto stop/start. It’s a simple little device that plugs into the hood latch. It tricks the car into thinking that the hood is ajar, therefore disabling auto stop/start.
take the battery out of the trunk……… problem solved
With the threat of Chinese nuclear war to US, it won’t matter….
Thanks for the update ” chicken little “.
I am surprised that they are picturing it in dark blue and burgundy.
In China these types of cars are always black.
It’s a shame Buick no longer makes sedans. I live in Los Angeles and in Feburary 2021 I purchased the only sedan the 2020 Buick Regal new at a Buick/GMC dealer that was full of pick ups, SUV’s, and CUV’s. I had to search hi and low to find the new Regal 2.0 turbo at a different county. It seems like I am the only one with a 2018-2020 Regal in the city of L.A. The Buick Regal is great hardly anyone knows about it in L.A.
Estás al extremo de la equivocacion
Guess profits are reason manufacturers pushing consumers to EVs that small percentage actually want.
I just bought a 2010 Lacrosse last year with less than 60k miles. It’s gorgeous and drives like a dream!
No SUV’s for me! If I want a truck I’ll buy a full sized. Had a ’93 Chevy Z71 sport side brand new. 454SS motor. But not in this gas market will I have a guzzler like that again.
My Buick has all the power I crave now. The 3.6 passes all the Honda and Toyotas like they were standing still!
It’s not just GM folks Toyota, Honda, Hyundai, Kia… Even BMW focus on CUVS AND SUVS more then Sedans… It’s what sells here in the USA! I never thought growing up in the 1990’s that a Buick SUV would outsell a big sedan or that a RAV4 would over take the Camry’s sales… Times change I own an Equinox the Wife has an Enclave I love them both because I don’t need to ask the wife for her carif I need an SUV… And FYI I bought a walk behind lawn mower it fit in the Enclave box and all and there was still room left… Try that with a sedat!
I was aware that there was a Buick Lacrosse Avenir model as recently if my mind serves me right about 2 years ago. And they did stand out, both old and young, male and female would look at them because they were stunning. Still our. But I have a feeling Gm brought these out with a half hearted marketing attempt, where were they adevertised?. How were they advertised. Both the Lacrosse and Regal were great cars nobody knew about. I loved the Buci Lacrosse models of 2010 CXL, heck these cars even had options for AWD. I also love the Buick Regals from 2014 to the last year of production, I loved the liftback models of 2019. Growing up my family had a 1969 Buick Wildcat, and it was a beauty, powerful, comfortable and good looking. iIN the lore of great engines Buick has had traditions as they were the ones who developed the 3800 Series. And one cannot forget the beast of engine found in the 1986 Grand National. I understand the market shifts but it is sad consumers are no longer savvy as what they call SUV/ CUV is nothing more than car platforms, in the past a SUV was a SUV tough, durable, workhorse car. ANd yes if my 2010 Cadillac CTS Wagon gives up the Ghost, or my 2007 Pontiac VIbe goes, I would love to buy a big comfortable car, but I guess I would have to look at the used market for a Lacrosse, an Impala, or even a Cadillac XTS. Oh my gosh thank you Sid, I would definitely also consider a TourxWagon.
I love the lacrosse but when they changed the front grill it changed the car I wouldn’t buy it with that grill I still drive my 2014 black beauty ,but my next purchase will be a truck not sure which one yet
I know of 5 Lacrosse sale lost ,2 did go with suv the rest foreign sedans and the 2 who bought suv would have bought the Lacrosse . Buick is American ,, make it here ,sell it here , not by Communist .
3.8 GM V6 the best engine ever made, power, 35 mpg in a large car, easily run 300,000 miles, smooth , what a great engine to be replaced by a turbocharged 2 liter lawn mower engine, wait til that turbo explodes and ruins the “engine”…… turbos are bad bad news for a gasoline engine, or any engine for that matter, without an intercooler and please don’t tell me turbos have a life longer than the engine its self
Well one of these days all Americans need to wake up before we become a third rate nation
i will buy the LaCross from China – tell me how to do so – happy to pay the freight to Seattle
I’m driving the 17 Lacrosse and it is wonderful. I’m hoping there will be a new Lacrosse at some point. Kinda sitting back hoping that Buick will bring a performance edition or something comparable to the Impala SS. (Super Charged 3.6 hint hint)
I cannot believe the American economy has lost all sedans they force-feed Eevee’s SUVs and trucks but yet they want to create better fuel consumption gas mileage on vehicles but yet they shove this down our throat this is not the way America should be we should be having our choice of the big three automakers here in the United States North America I personally believe that day off to get back to the sedans and cars to achieve the maximum mileage per gallon of gas and leave it up to us to make the choice not for government
American cars must be cheaper in USA compared to other brands in USA…
I don’t understand why America can’t make better cars….or let other brands to get in USA…Skoda Opel Fiat Citroen Renault…we are sick of Toyota Honda
Bekim Uka have you priced a Toyota Camry fully loaded reaches $50,000 dollars, an Altima and Maxima are cheap either Even the Kia stinger fully loaded is not cheap… Unless your buying the dull base model.
The American made cars for the last 10 years or so are very good quality. I had a Avalon and no problems, but they are so cheap and cheesy inside. Compared to my LaCrosse, it is so much nicer. Quieter, better ride, better handling. People have believed for to long that Honda and toyota are so dependable. Hondas got cheap too. Check out the recalls on the foreign brands!
Assemble the a Buick lacrosse in the USA . MY 2010 108K Only oil change and 1 set of tires 32 mpg highway
Why doesn’t Buick just call it a day, and change their Tri-shield logo to red and yellow?
