The 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 is the third model year of the latest fourth-generation vehicle, introducing a number of updates and changes over the preceding 2020 model year. Now, we’re taking a closer look at the 2021 GMC Sierra 1500’s new Denali Illumination Package.
The new 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali’s Illumination Package is tagged with RPO code RGL, and is offered as an LPO-level option, which means it is shipped to and installed by the dealer, rather than installed at the factory the time of the vehicle’s production.
The 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali’s Illumination Package includes the following content (relevant RPO codes listed in parentheses):
- Red illuminated front GMC emblem (RN2)
- Denali illuminated door sills (S0M)
- GMC illuminated puddle lamp emblem (S3I)
The new Illumination Package is offered on 2021 GMC Sierra Denali trim levels for an extra $920. With the package equipped, the 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali takes on an even more premium aesthetic, especially at night when the newly lit features can be seen more clearly.
Notably, the 2021 GMC Sierra offers an illuminated front GMC emblem as a standalone option, as GM Authority covered previously. Tagged with RPO code RN2, the illuminated front emblem is an LPO-level item offered on Sierra 1500 AT4 and Denali trim levels, not to mention Sierra HD AT4 and Sierra HD Denali trim levels as well. The front emblem alone is priced at $475, and makes for a lovely complement to the GMC Sierra’s stylish front grille. The illuminated emblem also falls in line with broader automotive styling trends, and is also offered on the all-new 2021 GMC Yukon AT4.
Looking ahead, the GMC Sierra 1500 is poised to receive a complete model refresh for the 2022 model year, introducing a new front and rear fascia design, new wheel designs, new exterior colors, and a completely overhauled interior space with a new dash, a new center stack, a new gauge cluster, removal of the column shifter, and new tech features, including the introduction of the semi-autonomous GM Super Cruise system.

975.00, pigs!
I love it! I absolutely love what GMC and every other truck maker are doing by adding these cool features onto these trucks. Touchscreen, generators, push button you name it. Now, mine will ride like a luxury car, look as good as one and will NEVER see mud or dirt but I’ll be loving it while driving to the office every day.
Some states don’t allow frontal red lights….so I can see this kinda causing issues. Why haven’t GMC left the red logo yet? Monochrome looks atheistically pleasing
Yes, the GMC logo is red, but the lighting is more of a bluish-white around the outside edge of the red letters, NOT the letters themselves.
