The 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 adds four new exterior colors to its palette: Cayenne Red Tintcoat, Ebony Twilight Metallic, Hunter Metallic, and Brownstone Metallic. Here’s our first look at the new brown hue.
Assigned color code GNK and touch-up paint code WA-334E, Brownstone Metallic is one of five dark hues, with Onyx Black, Ebony Twilight Metallic, Hunter Metallic, and Pacific Blue Metallic being the other four choices. Brownstone Metallic replaces Deep Mahogany Metallic, which was deleted after the 2020 model year. Comparatively, Brownstone Metallic is not as dark as the discontinued Deep Mahogany Metallic paint option.
It is worth noting three of the four new 2021 GMC Sierra colors are metallic paint options, bringing the total number of metallic paint colors to seven for the 2021 Sierra. With four exterior paint options deleted for the 2021 Sierra 1500, the addition of four new hues keeps the total number of 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 exterior paint options at 12.
The new Brownstone Metallic color is not included in the base price of the 2021 Sierra 1500. Instead, it’s priced at an extra $495. The new hue is available in conjunction with two of the four interior color combinations (Jet Black and Dark Walnut / Slate). It’s also available on all trim levels except the AT4 and Denali.

Notably, Summit White is the only exterior paint option included in the base price of the 2021 Sierra 1500.
As of this writing, GMC dealers might have the 2021 Sierra 1500 in stock, including models in Brownstone Metallic. However, the ongoing microchip shortage has severely disrupted the supply of Sierra pickups as well as most vehicles from other manufacturers, so we recommend checking with a dealer for complete availability details.
Prospective buyers may be interested to know that the 2021 Sierra 1500 sees the addition of Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, new wheels availability, and several new packages.
