2021 Cadillac XT6 Gets New Wilder Metallic Color: First Look

The 2021 Cadillac XT6 adds three new exterior colors to its palette: Dark Moon Blue Metallic, Infrared Tintcoat, and Wilder Metallic. Here’s our first look at the new Wilder hue.

Availability

Assigned color code GED and touch-up paint code WA-244F, Wilder Metallic is one of three gray-based color options, along with Satin Steel Metallic and Shadow Metallic. For the 2021 model year, two gray-based exterior color options were deleted – Radiant Silver Metallic and Manhattan Noir Metallic.

In total, there are eight available colors for the 2021 Cadillac XT6, including:

  • Crystal White Tricoat
  • Satin Steel Metallic
  • Stellar Black Metallic
  • Wilder Metallic
  • Shadow Metallic
  • Garnet Metallic
  • Dark Moon Blue Metallic
  • Infrared Tintcoat

Notably, Satin Steel Metallic is the only exterior color option included in the base price of the luxury crossover. Wilder Metallic is a fair bit darker than Satin Steel, and appears to be much more dynamic. In some lighting conditions, the color appears to be almost black, though its gray base and dazzling metallic quality are very apparent in direct sunlight.

The new Wilder Metallic color carries an additional cost of $625. It is also available in conjunction with all trim levels and interior color combinations.

2021 Cadillac XT6 Trim Levels:

  • Luxury (1SA, 1SB)
  • Premium Luxury (1SC, 1SD)
  • Sport (1SF)

2021 Cadillac XT6 Interior Color Combinations:

  • Jet Black
  • Cirrus with Dark Titanium
  • Cirrus with Jet Black
  • Dark Auburn with Jet Black
  • Maple Sugar with Jet Black

Launch Timeframe

As of this writing, dealer inventory of 2021 Cadillac XT6 models is sparse due to the ongoing microchip shortage, which appears to be impacting the GM Spring Hill plant in Tennessee that assembles the XT6. We recommend checking with your dealer about availability of models coated in the new Wilder Metallic paint.

Cadillac XT6 Luxury arrives as the new base model for the 2021 model year

Prospective buyers may be interested to know that the 2021 model year sees the addition of the turbocharged 2.0-liter LSY four-cylinder engine exclusively for the Luxury trim level, which is also new for 2021. The new Luxury model becomes the new base trim level for the XT6, enabling the luxury CUV to achieve a lower starting price point while also following Cadillac’s Y-trim level strategy. Other changes include the addition of wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto.

It looks like there’s a little green in this color. Anything non-neutral is a plus in my book.

If they don’t adapt the 3.0TT for a transaxle, they should put the 2.7T in all three XTs, even if it means using the XTS Vsport’s beefier 6 spd transaxle. But that’s ICE, so they don’t care. Fifty+ years a Cadillac fan, I will laugh at their comeuppance–or cry over my electric bill if EVs sell like they think.
