The 2021 Cadillac XT6 adds three new exterior colors to its palette: Wilder Metallic, Dark Moon Blue Metallic, and Infrared Tintcoat. Here’s our a detailed look at the new Infrared hue.
Availability
Assigned color code GSK and touch-up paint code WA-252F, Infrared Tintcoat is the only tintcoat color option available for the luxury crossover. Infrared is also one of two red-based hues available for the XT6, with the other being Garnet Metallic, which is much darker than the Infrared color. In fact, Infrared Tintcoat is the only bright hue available for the 2021 model year, as Red Horizon Tintcoat was deleted after the 2020 model year. To that end, Infrared is very similar to the Red Horizon Tintcoat option, and appears to be a direct replacement for it.
In total, there are eight available colors for the 2021 Cadillac XT6, including:
- Crystal White Tricoat
- Satin Steel Metallic
- Stellar Black Metallic
- Wilder Metallic
- Shadow Metallic
- Garnet Metallic
- Dark Moon Blue Metallic
- Infrared Tintcoat
The only2021 Cadillac XT6 color that is included in the base price of the luxury crossover is Satin Steel Metallic, and all other colors carry an additional cost. The new Infrared Tintcoat color carries an additional cost of $1,225. It is also available in conjunction with all trim levels and interior color combinations except for one: Dark Auburn with Jet Black Accents.
2021 Cadillac XT6 Trim Levels:
- Luxury (1SA, 1SB)
- Premium Luxury (1SC, 1SD)
- Sport (1SF)
2021 Cadillac XT6 Interior Color Combinations:

As of this writing, dealer inventory of 2021 Cadillac XT6 models is sparse due to the ongoing microchip shortage, which appears to be impacting the GM Spring Hill factory in Tennessee that assembles the XT6. We recommend checking with your dealer about availability of models coated in the new Infrared Tintcoat paint.
Prospective buyers may be interested to know that the 2021 model year sees the addition of the turbocharged 2.0-liter LSY four-cylinder engine exclusively for the Luxury trim level, which is also new for 2021. The new Luxury model becomes the new base trim level for the XT6, enabling the luxury CUV to achieve a lower starting price point while also following Cadillac’s Y-trim level strategy. Other changes include the addition of wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto.
