Back in the late ‘50s, Zora Arkus-Duntov approached Briggs Swift Cunningham about racing the Chevrolet Corvette at Le Mans, leading to the Vette’s first appearance at the world-famous endurance event. One of the three cars entered (car number 3) took a class win and finished eighth overall, cementing the Cunningham name into Corvette history.
As a nod to that achievement, 60 special edition 60th Anniversary Cunningham C8 Corvette models will be produced. Each is outfitted in the top 3LT trim level, as well as a swath of new high-end parts, including new brakes, a new exhaust system, new aero, fatter tires, sharper suspension settings, and new wheels. The mid-mounted 6.2L V8 LT2 engine was also upgraded with a Lingenfelter Performance Design Carbon Fiber Intake Manifold, as well as Corsa Sport Tuned headers and airbox. The upgrades are estimated to increase engine output to an impressive 600 naturally aspirated horsepower, as compared to the standard model’s 495 horsepower (when equipped with the factory performance exhaust system).
Fans who donate are entered for a chance to win one of these limited-run C8 Corvettes. Even better, donations go to benefit the Chip Miller Amyloidosis Foundation, which serves to benefit Amyloidosis research and awareness.
