Traxxas Unveils New C8 Corvette RC Car With 30 MPH Top Speed

Popular remote-controlled toy company Traxxas has unveiled its new C8 Corvette R/C car, which is set to go on sale this month.

The Traxxas C8 Corvette rides on the company’s 4-Tec 3.0 chassis, which has been slightly modified for this new addition to its R/C car lineup. Traxxas says the 4-Tec 3.0 chassis for the Vette “features a longer wheelbase and wider track,” which ensures the car has the same proportions as the real thing. As an added bonus, the longer wheelbase and wider track give the Traxxas C8 Corvette more stability and more refined handling than other Traxxas models that ride on the 4-Tec 3.0 chassis. Power comes from Titan 12T 550 electric motor connected to a single-speed direct-drive transmission and a shaft-driven all-wheel drive system, giving the car a top speed of about 30 mph with the optional high-speed pinion gear installed.

This R/C car isn’t just fun to drive, either – it also looks pretty good standing still. Traxxas says its plastic body, which easily mounts to the chassis using an integrated quick-release system, is faithful to the original Corvette design with realistic-looking elements like a clear engine bay window, visible 6.2L LT2 V8 engine and replica five-spoke wheels finished in black chrome.

Not surprisingly, this sizable scale Corvette isn’t cheap, with prices starting at $350. The package includes a 2.4GHz radio controller, maintenance tools, a high-speed pinion gear (which can be installed by the user to unlock the full 30 mph top speed), a 7-cell NiMH battery, Traxxas ES-Peak Plus charger and four AA batteries for the radio transmitter.

Check out the video below to see the Traxxas C8 Corvette in action before it hits the shelves this month.

  1. If a scale electric car car run that fast, imagine how fast an electric full size Corvette cab run with the quietness of electric power.

  2. A few years back, I purchased a Traxxas 4-Tec 2.0 chassis and a C7 body. I created the car to be a 1/10 carbon copy of my ’17 C7 GS. I then modified it with a brushless motor and installed a 2S lipo battery. She now runs at 65mph. If I’d swap my pinion gear and add a 3S lipo, she’d run ~80mph. It’s a fun hobby. 🙂

  4. just wait until you can put a Brushless motor and run a 3S lipo in it, It may challenge a full sizes 0-60 time

    1. I can’t tell if you’re mocking me or not, but if you are, you should do some research on the world of RC. If you run brushless, change your gearing and use a larger lipo battery, these 1/10 scale cars will surpass 100mph. It’s not too tough. There are dozens of videos on the net if you’d like to check it out. Peace. 😉
