The 2022 Chevy Bolt EV introduces a refresh for the all-electric nameplate, with updates to the exterior styling and interior layout, plus several new features as well. Notably, the 2022 Chevy Bolt EV also continues to offer an illuminated charge port.
The Chevy Bolt EV has offered an illuminated charge port as an available accessory since the Bolt EV was introduced for the 2017 model year. Now, with the debut of the 2022-model-year refresh, the Illuminated Charge Port continues to be offered.
The Illuminated Charge Port provides lighting to more easily locate the vehicle charging port when plugging in at night or in a low-light environment, with an illuminated bezel located around the charge port. There’s also a charging light that blinks while the port initializes to indicate the current charge level, complementing the charge indicator on the dash. The light will remain green in color, but will blink once for 0 percent to 25 percent charge, twice for 25 percent to 50 percent charge, three times for 50 percent to 75 percent charge, and four times for 75 percent to 100 percent charge. The light will then go off after a minute of non-blinking once the battery is fully charged.
The kit works with all available charging equipment, including Level 1, Level 2, and Fast Charge stations.
The accessory is priced at $325, per the Chevrolet Accessories website. The kit includes an illuminated bezel, wire harness, and all the hardware needed for installation. Installation by an authorized dealer is recommended.
An illuminated charge port is also included with the 2022 Chevy Bolt EUV Launch Edition, but it’s currently unclear it the feature will be offered as an accessory for the other trim levels in the Bolt EUV lineup.
As a reminder the 2022 Chevy Bolt EV is powered by a 65-kWh lithium-ion battery and single electric motor, delivering upwards of 259 miles of range on a full charge.
