General Motors has released details on the official accessories that will be available for the GMC Hummer EV, including a convenient roof rail set for carrying additional cargo and larger items on the battery-electric vehicle’s roof.
The roof rails, officially referred to by GMC as ‘Roof Cross Rails’, will be available for both the GMC Hummer EV Pickup and the GMC Hummer EV SUV. The rails are compatible with the optional Infinity Roof for the vehicles, allowing users to enjoy the open-air feeling of the transparent removable roof panels while also benefitting from the added practicality of the roof rails.
“From bikes to kayaks, these Roof Cross Rails will offer a versatile solution to storing cargo and gear with the GMC Hummer EV Pickup and SUV,” the automaker says on its website. “The rails are even compatible with all configurations of the Infinity Roof. So whether the Sky Panels are in place or removed for fresh air and sun, you can still carry what the latest adventure calls for.”
The black roof rails have a slight curvature in them that follows the contour of the GMC Hummer EV’s roof and feature Hummer-branded end pieces. Pricing for the roof rails has not yet been disclosed, however we’re expecting more details on this official accessory rack to be revealed in the run-up to the GMC Humme EV Pickup’s official launch this fall.
GMC is planning to offer an entire range of official accessories for the electric off-roader, which it says will be specifically tailored to the needs of Hummer buyers.
“The GMC Hummer EV accessories portfolio will be a unique lineup, offering all-new personalization choices that address the needs of extreme off-roaders and advance the convenience and capabilities associated with owning an all-electric supertruck,” said GMC accessory product manager Brantley Johnson.
The GMC Hummer EV pickup will enter production at the GM Factory Zero plant this fall, with the GMC Hummer EV SUV joining the pickup variant in early 2023.

Oh great, another feature to knock off a few miles of range and make consumption higher… I want to read about a light weighting program to get this Obese pigs weight under control, and gain some efficiency.
i don’t think people who buy this vehicle have efficiency as a priority.
this is about outrageous performance in an outrageous vehicle.
you might think 9000lbs is a problem but i’d bet people who buy this love the idea of a massive vehicle that is faster 0-60 than a porsche 911.
Best use of the roof rack will be to install high performance solar panels to provide some electricity to try and charge your “fuel” when you go “off roading”! LOL when the GM guy talks about the design of the rack so owner can still open sun roof to let fresh air and sun in. I guess he was not thinking about solar panels but rather a very long extension cord when “off roading”!
Love the green and wheels.
It is a very good looking rig all around, but man, that weight is just shockingly high.
Here piggy, piggy, piggy, come get some Ultiums!
Just read that F150 EV battery is 1800 pounds. Brakes and tires will take a beating.
The Hummer Ev SUT battery is about 3000 lbs, so what is your point? Electric cars rarely use the friction brakes, the motors provide a vast majority of the stopping force. Tires though you are right, heavy cars with lots of torque eat tires…
And ball joints, wheel bearings, and tie rods, etc. Do those components magically forgo maintenance and replacement on a BEV like everyone claims the brakes do? Btw all of those components are substantially more time consuming to replace than disc brakes.
