GM To Reimburse 2021 GMC Canyon AT4 Buyers Double-Charged For Rocker Panel Protector

General Motors has started a customer satisfaction program to reimburse buyers of the 2021 model-year GMC Canyon AT4 that were accidentally double-charged for an RPO option.

The problem: buyers of certain 2021 model-year GMC Canyon AT4 vehicles that were ordered with black rectangular (RPO RVP) or round tubular assist step (RPO RVS) accessories were accidentally double-charged for the available off-road rocker panel protector (RPO S6L) at the time of the vehicle purchase.

The hazards: this is a customer satisfaction program and does not pose any sort of safety hazard or risk to vehicle owners. However, for obvious reasons, customers will want to be reimbursed for the option they did not order or receive.

The fix: dealers will provide affected 2021 GMC Canyon AT4 buyers with a $995 reimbursement check. This amount covers the full cost of the off-road rocker panel protector. Customers will have an opportunity to receive the reimbursement check until this customer satisfaction program expires on June 30th, 2023.

Affected components: off-road rocker panel protector (RPO S6L).

Affected vehicles:

  • 2021 GMC Canyon AT4

Number of affected vehicles: it’s not clear how many GMC Canyon AT4 buyers were accidentally double charged for the off-road rocker panel protectors.

Owners should: GM will notify owners of affected vehicles and instruct them to reach out to their dealer to receive the reimbursement check. Owners of affected vehicles can also reach out to GMC or GM directly with any questions or concerns they may have using the contact information included below.

  18. my first comment was deleted somehow. Funny considering I wasn’t that happy when I posted it. I have yet to receive the letter with the VIN and PIN. I have only received the follow up letter. I have called and spent over 2 hours on the phone, been hung up on (twice) been put on hold for 27 minutes and I hung up and finally got someone 2 weeks ago that said he was resubmitting to have the initial letter sent to me. I have yet to get anything and when you call customer service, they transfer you around and around again and again. I called back again today. GM needs to make this right, the fuel economy mistake was on their end
