GM Reveals The All-New Buick Envision Plus’ Interior Design

During the world debut of the all-new Buick Envision Plus at the 2021 Shanghai Auto Show, General Motors only showed off the exterior of the range-topping Avenir trim level, leaving the Buick’s interior and lesser trim level details for another day. Now, the automaker has just revealed the first official images of the base variant and the interior of the Envision Plus for the Chinese market.

The entry-level Buick Envision Plus keeps the same exterior design as the Avenir, but as usual, styling elements and finishes set them apart. Among the differences, we find a different grille pattern, composed of slanted moldings and three horizontal bars under the chrome strip that supports the Tri-Shield logo, while black plastic trim protects the lower part of the body.

Surprisingly, the Buick Envision Plus for the Chinese market comes standard with a two-row, five-passenger seating layout that will stand out for boasting the most spacious cabin in the premium compact crossover segment. With its class-leading 111.5-inch wheelbase and efficient five-seat configuration, the Envision Plus offers ample passenger room and plenty of cargo space.

The images show that the interior of the Buick Envision Plus uses the exact same dash design as the regular second-generation model. The dashboard has a driver-oriented, asymmetrical layout in which the large embedded infotainment stands out, with an 18-degree angle towards the driver to facilitate readability and user friendliness.

The Envision Plus’ first- and second-row seats are equipped with heating, ventilation and position memory, while a panoramic roof and dual-zone automatic climate control are also available, among other things. The Avenir trim is expected to offer a third row of seats for a capacity of seven passengers, high-end materials, a generous amount of technological equipment and the latest advanced safety features.

The all-new Buick Envision Plus is the third member of the Envision family in China, joining the refreshed first-generation Envision and the regular version of the second-generation model, known locally as the Envision S. The new version of the Envision is expected to enter the North American market sometime this year, possibly wearing the Envision GX name, to expand Buick’s strong and successful line of crossover vehicles.

  1. We’ take one of those in a heartbeat as a Highlander replacement. Two rows with the heated and ventilated second row, and the extra cargo room behind it with the lack of a 3rd seat. Bring it over Buick!

    1. Buy the Highlander. It’s built in Princeton, Indiana by Americans. Every worker at that Indiana plant spends their wages in America often on utilities, landscaping and home improvements or educating their children, etc. Their wages circulate through the US economy having a reverberating benefit for all of us.

Buying the Chinese-built Buick sends your money to China to circulate there and benefit their economy and any money that might come back to the US gets used by gm to pay Mary’s $24 million salary and that of gm’s other executives who oftentimes invest their millions overseas in tax haven locales yielding little benefit for the Red, White, and Blue. It’s much better to support American workers who will, in turn, use their wages to support other American workers.

I remember when my town’s Buick store had a gigantic American flag and a Buy American banner. They took it down years ago when folks complained that their lot was now full of Polish, Chinese, German, Korean, and Canadian cars with virtually nothing American-made there. I don’t think any American should be so brand loyal so as to blindly support gm when they return no loyalty to those they ask to support them.

      1. Or buy the Detroit made Grand Cherokee, or the Ontario built Nautilus, or the Tennessee built XT5…..

Buick is the GEO division of the 2000s.

    1. I can’t believe how many people care still willing to support China after the damage they inflicted on the world, especially the US. Yes I get the lame-ass argument that we all buy things made in China on a daily basis. However there is a big difference between a TV or phone and a $50K vehicle. There are many good US/Canadian built alternatives to be bought.

      1. When you consider how many phones and TV we buy, there really isn’t any “big difference”!

        Reply
        1. The difference is if one is shopping for a phone or toaster, there is no choice. They all come from China but with the Envasion, there are plenty of fine choices made in the US. I’d much prefer a US built, but import brand, product over a Buick built in Communist China, which is a nation that has every intention to supersede us and impose their authoritarian rule on us too. Just ask the good people of Hong Kong who are fighting to retain their freedoms while mainland China is closing-in. China wants Hong Kong and Macau and Taiwan…., and then they want us.

  10. For those who are anti “China Made, please toss your smartphone, your computer and smart watch, every small appliance in the home, like toasters and coffee makers. Don’t forget your nail clippers, hair dryers, electric shavers, electric toothbrushes LED light bulbs and ceiling fans that nearly every American home has. A China company, Haier, bought GE major appliance division. Those Samsung and LG’s are mostly made in Korea but slowly building plants in the USA. There are thousands of items made in China that we all buy and at one time they were all made in American factories in hundreds of small towns across the USA. If you do not like it, get a master degree in Business or Political Science and get a job so one day you can change a company to stop manufacturing elsewhere. Too many startup companies are getting product from China with there own labels, hit the social media with ads that require a fraction of cost to build a manufacturing plant. This hugh import is employing thousands of longshoreman, railroad workers and truckers, local shippers, etc.

    1. The most expensive item you list is under$1000- not a $50k + vehicle that could be built in one of gm’s underutilized plants such as Orion or Fairfax.

Regarding all the thousands of wonderful jobs created by the import sector, trucks and trains could haul American made products instead. Of course this does not account for the millions of jobs lost in US manufacturing as tens of thousands of factories closed up shop.

  11. nail clippers and all that is mentioned don’t cost $ 40k–$ 50 k . Ge appliances are Crap .. I would like to see all Americans working ,some don’t care … America was a first class country ,now we are being degraded ..

  12. Too bad Chinese made. Against my religion to support these communists.

  13. OH you people are killing me… You will buy a Piece of Crap Hyundai that’s made in the USA… but you won’t buy a well made Buick built in China?? The money comes back state side to GM Hyundai and Kia are taking that money back to Korea… They are non union scum bag companies who build fake copy cat cars! Meanwhile GM builds all over to the world and so does Toyota…did you you know there are Chinese Toyotas to?? Welcome to the 21st century dumb dumb!

    1. Unfortunately for you Kia and Huyndai are employing Americans while the Envasion supports hardly any American workers. BTW, the money that comes back stateside is going into Barra’s and her ilk’s pockets. Considering the Envasion is built with slave labor, I do not see the price any lower than a comparable built US vehicle.

      1. To stop the public black eye, GM Marketing/PR people should be trying like hell with the industrial engineers to get the NA plants shuffled.

Something like: Orion gets Malibu & new compact Sonic, Fairfax gets Blazer & Equinox, Ingersoll gets XT4 & the Envisions. Ramos Arizpe gets Bolt & EU targeted small EVs.

EU tariffs the US, but not Canada, Mex, or S. Korea; and EU auto companies make big bucks here. Use Buick and Cadillac to go back into Europe hard, clawing as much back as possible. Japan avoids buying foreign too much.

This 4th industrial revolution is a giant back-stabbing.

  14. Melania the unions almost forced GM to go belly up 12 years ago… And I have to admit those great 90’s and 2000’s union made Buicks where garbage cars. My friend had a Buick Century that was made in the USA by unions yes the 3800 V6 was excellent but the rest of the car would fall apart in five years it’s no wonder the old GM went bankrupt. Now people are not happy that Buicks are made in China… Well if they built them here in America right the first time then people would buy them then they would be made here!

  15. If only the envision was made in America… It would be so much better. The envision is a good car, but it’s origins kill it.

  16. Also why can’t we get the envision plus in America, we also want a 3 row blazer and perhaps the menlo on the American market. The Brazilian tracker would likely sell well too.

  17. I guess it comes down to what kind if country we want to have. Globalization has caused prices to fall, but it has led to unemployment in all sectors from manufacturing to engineering and design. The US is in a race to the bottom. If you are happy with having your children making half of what you made in your lifetimes, having ever increasing national debt, and a movement toward socialism as people turn to the government for financial support then, by all means, keep buying this crap made in China.

    1. Tigger,

So many times, there are options. We don’t have to buy Chinese stuff. In some sectors, that’s not the case but most of the time, there are choices. Just pay attention and avoid China. It may still not be American but I consider buying any other countries goods preferable to Chinese. I’d buy a Japanese car or German CUV any day over a Chinese one even if the China car uses branding (Buick) that once was American.

  18. so only the Avenir trim level will have the 3rd row? That seems strange to me.

    Reply
    1. A third row in the smaller crossovers like the Envision and Blazer, the rear seat passengers are part of the rear bumper or lack of bumpers. Until you get to the Ford Explorer and Chevrolet Traverse size is a third row practical. It’s safe and still have good storage area.

      Reply
      1. That why my wife is buying a Traverse it’s about the same price as the Blazer but bigger in every way! The Blazer is Niche vehicle that you buy to look cool in…not haul a ton of stuff. But the same can be said of the Ford Edge.

  19. I have had first hand experience… I owned a 2001 Pontiac Grand Am it was a nice looking car but…It was built in Michigan…from day one the 3.4 liter V6 had valve slap/tap,the radio was junk, the seats fabric was like the cheapest material they could find, interior by rubbermaid, Overall it was a nice car… But I think GM could have done better and maybe Pontiac would still be around! Now me I don’t care where a vehicle is built if I like it I will buy it… Think about this maybe if the Cost Of Living wasn’t so High in this country (America) then we could employee people to build fine automobiles… My uncle worked for Ford back in the 60’s at the NJ plant that’s now closed,. He never made a lot of money but enjoyed his job and took pride in his work… And yes bring back the jobs to America with a decent wage and no union games then we can have our Buicks made in the USA!
