Fix Released For 2021 GM Trucks And SUVs Over Engine Manifold Sensor Issue

A service update has been issued for certain 2021 model-year GM trucks and SUVs over an issue related to the vehicles’ engine manifold pressure sensor.
The problem: affected GM trucks and SUVs may come equipped with a faulty engine manifold absolute pressure sensor that can produce an improper or erratic signal. This may result in the ‘Service Engine Soon’ light appearing on the vehicle’s instrument panel. The problem may also cause the ‘Service Engine Soon’ light to switch on and off intermittently.
The hazards: while this problem does not pose a safety risk to the driver or vehicle occupants, the light will stay on or keep switching on and off until the problem is addressed.
The fix: GM dealers will be instructed to replace the engine manifold absolute pressure sensor. This will prevent the ‘Service Engine Soon’ light from coming on. The related service update document indicates this fix should be performed on vehicles that are in GM dealership inventory only. The service update will expire in May of 2022.

Let’s hope that this is not another “they will fix it if you complain” issue. Over the last few decades, GM has had some faulty engine issues, that they always seem blame on the owners. Since most of these are not safety issues, GM can get away with charging the owners trough the roof. Only if one keeps track of these things, can one prevent the exorbitant charges, uncaring Dealers, can charge. As it says in this posting, trucks in “dealer inventory only”. That leaves the average Joe, left with a pretty hefty price tag to deal with. You gotta stay on top of this stuff!!!!!!!!
Can’t imagine spending a hundred grand here in Canada as some cost this. And then the service engine light comes on. Maybe more testing on these components should be done before putting them into our hands. No one pays our time or travel costs to and from dealers for transmission, engine fixes to now sensor issues.
Wake up GM wake up. Can we not make a vehicle without issues each year.
Those pesky offshore source parts just continue to paint a bad product snapshot of gm.
Being a teenager and seeing the first year of the 1967 Camaro in our driveway was not no big deal then for me but I still remember the smile of my dads face and threw the years of working on Chevy cars all I ever own. I really appreciate the pride that was put in the craftmanship of a America Made vehicle in those days unexplainable compare to now with cheap parts and high cost ………….
This used to apply however………. You can’t buy anything at the dealer that remotely comes close to modern day Nascar. They are on glue with their multicar teams who can rig the outcome of races by creating a crash or two.
I have a 2021 Yukon Denali. Check engine light always goes on when outside temp drops below around 30 degrees sometimes higher. Taking to dealer to see if this is problem. Very annoying can’t use remote start when check engine light is on.
