Speed lovers living Down Under rejoice – the C8 Corvette is coming to Australia, as GM Authority covered previously. Now, GMSV is teeing up the new sports car’s arrival with a fresh video of the mid-engine Chevy tackling some apexes at The Bend Motorsport Park in South Australia.
For those readers who may be unaware, GMSV (GM Specialty Vehicles) is the new General Motors brand in Australia, replacing the recently retired Holden brand. As such, GMSV will offer a collection of General Motors vehicles in the market, including the new C8 Corvette.
The new GMSV video is relatively brief, clocking in at just 1 minute, 29 seconds. However, it includes loads of slick footage of the new C8 Corvette, including gorgeous shots of the exterior, interior, and engine bay, as well as plenty of shots of the new Vette slicing through the corners on the track. The video also features the Chevy Silverado pickup truck, which can be seen bringing the new C8 Corvette to the track in a trailer.
Interestingly, the C8 Corvette featured in this video is a left-hand drive model. General Motors is also producing right-hand-drive versions of the eighth-gen Vette, with the first right-hand-drive examples already headed to the Japanese market. Deliveries of right-hand-drive C8 Corvettes are slated to arrive in Australia early next year, coinciding with deliveries to the U.K., another right-hand-drive market.
Like the left-hand-drive C8 Corvette, right-hand-drive models are produced at the Bowling Green Assembly facility in Kentucky, the exclusive producer of the Chevrolet Corvette since 1981.
Australian buyers will have several trim levels to choose from, including the 2LT (the mid-range model here in the U.S.), which starts at AU$144,990 (before on-road costs), or $112,463 at current exchange rates (05/24/2021). Buyers will also have access to the 3LT (the range-topping trim), priced at AU$160,500, or $124,494 at current exchange rates.

I would love to buy a new mid engine vette but the honest local dealer can’t get them and others want to charge an high premium but can somehow get the car. Can’t the Company just sell me one at MSRP?
I was fortunate to have been able to order a C8 Sept. 23, 2019 and after covid delays took delivery on June 26, 2020 and it’s been a dream! Don’t really care for all the attention it attracts but it’s a dream come true! I’ve driven it at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway the past two weekends on the GP road course and the famed oval this past weekend. I got every option with exception of mine being a 2LT Z51 w/ GT2 seats in Zeus Bronze wrapped in Natural leather. I got the car at MSRP and will have had it a year next month. Love Love Love this car!
You need to buy from a high volume dealer with a higher allocation. I live in California but purchased my car from Macmulkin Chevrolet in NH at MSRP and received in in just under 1 year. They helped facilitate a courtesy delivery locally as well. If I had ordered it locally I would have had to pay a large mark up and mostlikely would be still waiting.
