2022 GMC Acadia vs. 2022 Nissan Pathfinder: Dimensional Comparison

The 2022 Nissan Pathfinder debuted earlier this year, introducing an all-new fifth generation for the crossover nameplate. Among the Pathfinder’s rivals is the 2022 GMC Acadia, so now, we’re lining up both to see how they compare in terms of exterior dimensions, interior dimensions, and cargo room.

Interior Dimensions

Next we have the interior dimensions, where one might expect the 2022 GMC Acadia to be down on space compared to the larger 2022 Nissan Pathfinder. For the most part, this is indeed the case, but with a few notable exceptions, in particular second row legroom, where the Acadia offers an extra 4.2 inches. The Acadia also offers an extra 1.7 inches of third row legroom, while second row headroom is tied between the two crossovers. The rest of the measurements go to the 2022 Nissan Pathfinder.

Cargo Dimensions

Finally, we have cargo room, where, unsurprisingly, the 2022 Nissan Pathfinder once again outsizes the 2022 GMC Acadia. However, all things considered, the cargo room differences aren’t really that big, with the Pathfinder offering an extra 1.5 cubic feet behind the first row, an extra 3.3 cubic feet behind the second row, and an extra 3.8 cubic feet behind the third row.

  1. So if it’s that close to the Acadia, the Traverse must absolutely crush it with larger dimensions. Why is GM the only one making reasonably sized 3 row crossovers?

  2. The Enclave is near the same size of the Traverse.

Also not everyone wants an extra large crossover.

  3. Acadia is the right size. No need for extra flab and fat. Athletic and trim is the idea with Acadia. Why does everything in the US have to be about Super Sizing?

  4. More reasons to buy the new Pathfinder over the Acadia. It just appears better designed and of higher quality. It was shocking when we went shopping for a new crossover. Loved the size of the Acadia, but looking at the Denali the interior was not competitive. Plastics and feel might work in a $35k vehicle, but not at the Denali price.

    1. Agree, I don’t know why you’re being downvoted.

My wife loved the looks of the Acadia and it’s size so we test drove a white Denali and we were both disappointed with the interior for the price. We are waiting to test drive the upcoming QX60 and Pathfinder when it hits the lots but we crossed the Acadia (and Traverse) off our list.

  5. GMC screws up again. Where is the Utility in an S/CUV that is so small? I switched to the Traverse last month and have no regrets. The longer wheel base, superior cargo space and a rear opening that can act accommodate a 4 X 8 sheet from Lowes is what works best. Professional Grade my butt! GMC is a truck line. Let China build the Buick for whimps that want a “cute” little S/CUV. Time for GMC to do some real marketing or let their line fade away.

  6. Anyone who has driven with me in my Acadia is fully impressed with the pleasant and quality interior. All a bunch of BS saying it is low rent. Keep up the good work GMC, you are the right size and style.

  7. If you park in a home garage with single doors, question whether the vehicle will fit through the door way without retracting the manual side view mirrors. I found that the Acadia just clears the door way while the other have to have the sideview mirror retracted (manually).

  8. Is the 2nd row legroom figure correct? Seems low even compared 2 last year’s model. I thought it was about 40 inches? I could be wrong though. The front legroom is so great that I doubt the front seats will ever be slid all the way back unless you’re over 6 foot 5 leaving the 2nd row to have alot more room but I drove in my co workers traverse and I didn’t like the ride quality. It was 2 soft or something and the drivetrain made a vibration while accelerating like the car was shaking so I told him 2 keep an eye out for it.

  9. My issue with Nissan is they insist on using those CVT transmissions. I have a Sierra AT4 for my regular transportation and I got a 2015 Xterra automatic 5 speed before they discontinued them. Its a tough , simple real 4×4 unlike that thing they pass off with the Pathfinder name with its moaning CVT.

    1. Pathfinder has a 9-speed automatic for the 2022 model year.

  10. I think there may be something wrong with the pathfinder numbers. Front legroom is way to big, and 2nd row left is way too small. My guess is, there was some sort of mix up in how these things are measured, and 2 inches that were reported for the front are supposed to go to the back. Either that, or the seat just slides back much further than in other cars.
