2022 Cadillac XT6 To Get Available Brembo Brake Package

General Motors will introduce a new Brembo performance brake package on the 2022 Cadillac XT6 mid-size crossover.

The new Brembo brake package for the 2022 Cadillac XT6 is tagged with RPO code J56 and includes Brembo front performance brake discs and red-painted front and rear calipers. The brake upgrade package is standard on the 2022 Cadillac XT6 Sport trim level only, building on that model’s performance-oriented nature by providing the crossover with some increased stopping power.

The Cadillac XT6 Sport trim level is set apart from the Luxury and Premium Luxury trims by its gloss black exterior accents, unique Sport front and rear fascia elements, 20-inch alloy wheels, body color door handles and tinted neutral-density taillamp lenses. The XT6 Sport also comes standard with Sport Control AWD, Chassis Damping Control, Performance Suspension with driver select modes and performance-inspired interior appointments like carbon trim and metal Sport pedals.

GM has yet to release complete details on the 2022 Cadillac XT6, however the mid-size crossover is expected to continue with only minor changes to its list of available options. The turbocharged 2.0L LSY four-cylinder engine, which is rated at 235 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, is expected to remain as the base engine. Premium Luxury and Sport models, meanwhile, will stick with the naturally-aspirated 3.6L V6 LGX engine rated at 310 horsepower and 271 pound-feet of torque. Front-wheel-drive and a GM nine-speed automatic transmission will be standard, with AWD available at cost.

Pricing for the 2022 Cadillac XT6 has not yet been announced. The crossover will enter production at the GM Spring Hill Assembly plant in Tennesse later this year once production of the 2021 model year XT6 has run its course.

  1. The XT6 is a good looking vehicle, but my issue would be with the engine choices. I don’t want a 4 cylinder in my Cadillac and I had a 3.6 V6 in my Traverse and had issues with it, so I won’t buy another one.

    1. which year traverse did you own? the 3,6 in the XT6 and Acadia is an entirely new engine design from the 3.6 used in the traverse.

    2. The 3.6 V6 in the 2020-2021 XT6 is the 4th generation one and not the same as was in your Traverse. If you had a 2018 or newer it shared the same as the 2018+ Enclave.

  2. That’s it. Brembos. Must have SUV. Engine upgrade? No, it’s all about appearance. Anything to raise the price.

  3. Brembo Brakes should have been standard in all XT4, 5, 6 Sport versions…..I had them in my 2014 ATS performance version and loved them. What took so long for Cadillac to wake up to finally consider these?

    1. Had a Obsession Red 2014 ATS Performance myself, great brakes and superior handling.

  4. The Brembo brakes on my CT6-V work really well stopping my car and look great, but leave way too much brake dust. No other ceramic pads are available for the CT6-V, so I’m constantly cleaning my wheels. I hope these Brembo brakes fitted on the 2022 XT6 Sport do not have the same issue.

  5. These are the brakes it should have across all Cadillac models. Also the 3.6 should give way to the 3.0TT ! You should get something more for your 20K price premium over the Chevy Travers.

    1. How much nicer is the Lexus RX over the Toyota Highlander?

I will never understand this MASSIVELY exercised double standard you people have when it comes to anything from GM. I can understand a loyal GM customer holding the General to a higher standard but there’s a fine line between constructive criticism and irrationally nitpicking the options/features list with a fine tooth comb. Demanding the best of the best braking power be standard on ALL Cadillacs is just that; IRRATIONAL.

Demanding unnecessary standard options/features across the board only raises starting prices. Then you’ll be back here to complain about that.

  6. Brembo is now the Bose of brakes.

  7. I don’t know why it would even need it considering they barely have any performance and a Lincoln runs laps around it (the Aviator has 184 more horse power😬). Cadillac just needs to stop trying to follow the Germans cause obviously they’re not German so that doesn’t work out very well and just needs to stop saying they’re sporty since every Lincoln competitor has more power and if a Lincoln has better performance and is getting rated for having a better interior, you know Cadillac is having an identity crisis. I love Cadillac but I’m not completely sure of it’s future right now…

  8. It only comes down to GM cheapness. Modern luxury vehicles must have great performance and comfort, surrounded by decadent fitting out. GM missmanagment is too cheap and backward thinking to understand this. Merging Cadillac with Chevy is a perfect example of cheapness and cost cutting at any cost! Please someone help me understand what makes a XT6 cost and be worth 20K more than a Traverse!!!
