2022 Cadillac XT4 To Lose Three Available Exterior Colors

The 2022 Cadillac XT4 will ditch some of the exterior hues that were previously included on the vehicle’s color palette for the 2021 model year, GM Authority can confirm.

The following three exterior colors were offered on the 2021 Cadillac XT4, but have been dropped for the 2022 model (relevant RPO codes listed in parentheses):

  • Shadow Metallic (RPO GJI)
  • Garnet Metallic (RPO GLR)
  • Autumn Metallic (RPO GM6)

All three of these available exterior colors were optional on the 2021 Cadillac XT4 and carried a $625 price premium. The trio was available across the entire Cadillac XT4 range, which includes the base-level Luxury trim and upmarket Premium Luxury and Sport trims.

While GM decided to drop these three available exterior colors for the 2022 model-year Cadillac XT4, three new paint colors will be introduced to replace them.

GM has also decided to ditch the optional red brake calipers for the 2022 Cadillac XT4. The red brake calipers were standard equipment on the Sport trim level only and were simply for aesthetics, providing no additional braking performance. Additionally, GM announced that leatherette upholstery will now be branded as Inteluxe seats.

Otherwise, the 2022 Cadillac XT4 is expected to continue with a single engine choice – the turbocharged 2.0L I4 LSY gasoline motor, which is now rated at 235 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. This engine is paired with the GM nine-speed automatic transmission and standard front-wheel drive, while all-wheel drive is optional on every trim level.

In Europe, where the XT4 is the only Cadillac model sold officially, the XT4 is also offered with the 2.0 I4 LSQ turbodiesel engine, which makes 174 horsepower and 281 pound-feet of torque.

  1. When will Super Cruise be available on the XT4? Any idea if it will only be available on a specific trim level?

    1. It could be available on the ’23 refresh model. The current design was not made to equip Supercruise.

      1. In all seriousness, how did they not make the XT4 compatible with Super Cruise? Does anyone at GM talk to each other?

        1. The latest version of Supercruise requires the new Global B electrical architecture. The XT4 doesn’t contain the Global B architecture. Hence it doesn’t have Supercruise. A rather simple concept.

          1. The Bolt EUV does not ride on Global B architecture and it has the first generation Super Cruise.

    2. I hear Barra is canceling Super Cruise. Not enough sales to justify it.

      1. Member12, sources? Seeing as it is currently only available in the Escalade, and all the money put into it, I’d find that to be highly unlikely. I’m more convinced that you just made that up for attention.

  2. I don’t know how GM is making all these changes on the XT4, since Fairfax is down since mid Feb/2021.

    1. The plant being down would have nothing to do them making these changes, as these changes are for 2022 model year. If anything, it makes any retooling easier.
