2021 GMC Canyon Gets New Desert Sand Metallic Color: First Look

The 2021 GMC Canyon offers a total of seven exterior colors, four which are new: Hunter Metallic, Dynamic Blue Metallic, Cayenne Red Tintcoat, and Desert Sand Metallic. Here’s our first look at the new Desert Sand hue.

Availability

Assigned color code GTL and touch-up paint code WA-661G, Desert Sand Metallic is one of three lighter hues available for the 2021 GMC Canyon, along with Summit White and Satin Steel Metallic.

Altogether, there are seven exterior color options available for the 2021 Canyon:

  • Satin Steel Metallic
  • Summit White
  • Onyx Black
  • Hunter Metallic
  • Dynamic Blue Metallic
  • Cayenne Red Tintcoat
  • Desert Sand Metallic

The Desert Sand Metallic color option costs an additional $495, and is available only on the 2021 Canyon Elevation and AT4 trim levels. It is available in conjunction with two out of four interior color combinations – Jet Black with Kalahari or Jet Black.

2021 GMC Canyon Levels:

  • Elevation Standard (2VL, 4VL)
  • Elevation (2LE,4LE)
  • AT4 (4SB)
  • Denali (2SD, 4SD)

2021 GMC Canyon Interior Color Combinations:

  • Jet Black with Dark Ash
  • Jet Black
  • Jet Black with Kalahari
  • Cocoa with Dark Atmosphere

For the sake of comparison, we’re showing the Canyon in the Desert Sand Metallic exterior finish with the standard 17-inch AT4 wheel alongside the optional 17-inch AT4 wheel finished in gloss Black. The black wheel option appears to accent the Desert Sand Metallic finish more favorably, especially with the black grille, side mirror caps, door handles, and other black-out AT4 components. The same can be said for the Canyon Elevation Standard and Elevation models, which feature a black grille and black wheels as standard equipment.
