2021 Chevy Silverado 1500 Receives New Blackout Package

The 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500 is now available to order with a new ‘Blackout Package’ that gives the truck a mean, dark-themed exterior appearance.

The Blackout Package for the 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500 (RPO RG1) is an LPO-level/dealer-installed accessories package that will be offered as optional equipment on the Custom and RST trim levels. The equipment package will include the following items (relevant RPO codes listed in parentheses):

  • Black Silverado nameplates (RPO RIK)
  • Black Custom RST/6.2L/Duramax badges
  • Black bow tie, (RPO SFZ)
  • Black tailgate CHEVROLET lettering (RPO SB7)
  • 20-inch 5-split spoke High Gloss Black wheels with Black caps and Black bow tie with Silver outline, (RPO SEH) (Custom only)
  • 20-inch painted aluminum wheels (RPO RD4) (RST only)

To sum up, the Blackout Package essentially takes all the equipment offered in the existing Dark Essentials Package and bundles it with either the 20-inch split 5-spoke High Gloss Black wheels or the 20-inch painted aluminum wheels, depending on the trim level of the truck.

The existing Dark Essentials package, which is currently offered on several Chevy Silverado 1500 nameplates, costs $305 and includes black Chevy bowties, black tailgate lettering, black Silverado and trim nameplates and black engine badges on trucks with either the 6.2L L87 EcoTec3 V8 engine or 3.0L LM2 Duramax I-6 turbodiesel engine.

Chevy has not disclosed the price of the new Blackout Package, although we’re imagining it will be slightly more than the $305 Dark Essentials Package, as it bundles all the same equipment with a pair of optional wheels. The automaker charges $800 for the 20-inch painted aluminum wheels on the RST, so this package could be around $1,000 or so once it’s officially added to the order guide.

The Blackout Package is not available in conjunction with the Rally Edition on the Custom trim, nor is it available with the Rallye Edition or Redline Edition on the RST. This is likely because the Rally Edition and Redline Edition include some equipment that overlaps with the Blackout Edition, such as black exterior emblems and optional wheels.
