Wild Cherry Design Packages Renamed For 2022 Chevy Camaro

The upcoming 2022 Chevy Camaro is set to introduce a name change for the Wild Cherry Design Packages, dropping the “Wild Cherry” nomenclature.

The existing Wild Cherry Design Package 1 (RPO code PDL) will be renamed simply Design Package 1, while the Wild Cherry Design Package 2 (PDN) will be renamed Design Package 2. The RPO codes for both packages will stay the same, as will the content, although the available paint colors will change slightly.

Design Package 1 (PDL) will include the following content (relevant RPO codes listed in parentheses):

  • Black Metallic Hash Mark Stripes (RY2)
  • Camaro logo wheel center caps (5ZB)
  • 20-inch 5-split spoke polished forged wheels (WR1/57W)
  • Premium carpeted floor mats with Camaro logo (VYW)

The package also includes a Black Camaro fender badge emblem (CG3) when added to 1LT, 2LT, and 3LT, 1SS, and 2SS trims.

Design Package 2 (PDN) will include the content of Design Package 1, as well as the following (relevant RPO codes listed in parentheses):

  • Black sueded knee pads (S0U)
  • Fuel filler door in Black with visible carbon fiber insert (VQL)
  • Carbon Flash Metallic, second generation Ground Effects (VTD)
  • Center Stripe (DUU/DUV/DW8)

The packages require one of three exterior paint options, including Vivid Orange Metallic (GCF), Rapid Blue (GMO), or Wild Cherry Tintcoat (GSK). Previously, the Wild Cherry Design Package 1 was only available with Wild Cherry paint.

It’s also worth mentioning that the Design Packages will no longer offer 20-inch Caliente wheels as an available upgrade for the 2022 Chevy Camaro. The 20-inch Caliente wheels had RPO code 5K9 for 1LT, 2LT, 3LT and LT1 trims, and 57V for 1SS and 2SS trims.

To note, the 2022 Chevy Camaro is also set to introduce the Vivid Orange Metallic paint color, as well as Rapid Blue paint, the latter of which is currently offered as an exclusive hue for the C8 Corvette Stingray.

In addition to the package name changes and content changes covered above, the 2022 Chevy Camaro is also set to introduce the Design Package 3 option (RPO code PDP), which includes aesthetic upgrades such as (relevant RPO codes listed in parentheses):

  • Black sueded knee pads (S0U)
  • Camaro logo wheel center caps (5ZB)
  • Fuel filler door in Black with visible carbon fiber insert (VQL)
  • Premium carpeted floor mats with Camaro logo (VYW)
  • Satin Black Hood Stripe with Silver Ice Metallic Hash Mark (SHS)

Further changes expected with the 2022 Chevy Camaro include the discontinuation of the 1LE Track Performance Package for LT models.

    2. Yikes. This is what I was worried about. I plan on ordering a 2022 camaro soon but they are so behind. I know the plant is still closed but have they told you anything since you ordered it?

        1. That is such a long time to wait and not hear anything. I hope that you only put a small deposit down. I wonder what they are going to do as the 2022’s start production in June according to this sites sources. They ought to give you all who ordered a 2021 weeks ago some type of credit to take care of you all. Since you all could cancel and go to Dodge or Ford for a muscle car.

  2. At the rate things are progressing now, they will be doing good to meet existing orders for the 2021s before the 2022s are supposed to start. Anyone see the other article about their marketing budget going back up?? Makes a lot of sense to advertise what isn’t available for purchase.

    1. That sucks. I’m sorry. Have you bugged them enough?
I know in my life, if I don’t bother people at least five or six times, and I can get rid of the robot person on the initial phone call, I just keep calling and calling and calling and calling. Eventually, I get through. Just a tip.I am not sure how much you have pestered them, But I would probably at this point, and this is just me OK I’m just talking here, I would pull out and tell them you’re going to buy a Mustang. Maybe that will work?
