The all-new Cadillac Lyriq luxury crossover is the brand’s first all-electric offering, bringing a combination of eye-catching style, interior refinement, cutting-edge technology, and emissions-free motoring. However, with an all-electric powertrain and oodles of sumptuous luxury laid on top, the Cadillac Lyriq is also a very heavy vehicle.
Looking over the specs, we find the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq tips the scales at 5,610 pounds (2,545 kg). That makes it roughly equivalent to the 2021 Cadillac Escalade SUV with regard to curb weight, given the new Escalade weighs 5,635 pounds (2,556 kg) when equipped with 2WD. That also makes the Lyriq significantly heavier than the Cadillac XT5 (3,915 pounds, 1,776 kg) and the Cadillac XT6 (4,362 pounds, 1,979 kg).
Vehicle | Base Curb Weight (lbs. / kg) |
---|---|
2021 Cadillac CT5 RWD | 3,659 / 1,660 |
2021 Cadillac CT5-V RWD | 3,974 / 1,803 |
2022 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing | 4,123 / 1,870 |
2021 Cadillac Escalade 2WD | 5,635 / 2,556 |
2021 Cadillac Escalade Diesel 2WD | 5,827 / 2,643 |
2021 Cadillac Escalade ESV 2WD | 5,785 / 2,624 |
2021 Cadillac Escalade ESV Diesel 2WD | 5,974 / 2,710 |
2023 Cadillac Lyriq | 5,610 / 2,545 |
2021 Cadillac XT5 FWD | 3,915 / 1,776 |
2021 Cadillac XT6 FWD | 4,362 / 1,979 |
Considering the Cadillac Lyriq’s exterior dimensions (196.7-inch overall length, 77.8-inch overall width. 63.9-inch overall height), the new EV crossover is rather portly. By comparison, the 2021 Cadillac Escalade has an overall length of 212 inches, an overall width of 81 inches, and an overall height of 77 inches.
Obviously, one of the biggest components contributing to the Lyriq’s ground-pounding curb weight are the batteries. As such, rival all-electric vehicles have similarly high curb weights – for example, the 2021 Audi e-tron weighs 5,754 pounds (2,610 kg), while the 2021 Tesla Model X weighs 5,185 pounds (2,352 kg).
Vehicle | Curb Weight (lbs. / kg) |
---|---|
2021 Audi e-tron | 5,754 / 2,610 |
2023 Cadillac Lyriq | 5,610 / 2,545 |
2021 Jaguar I-PACE | 4,784 / 2,211 |
2021 Polestar 2 | 4,680 / 2,123 |
2021 Tesla Model X | 5,185 / 2,352 |
2021 Tesla Model Y | 4,416 / 2,003 |
As a reminder, the Cadillac Lyriq is equipped as standard with a 100-kWh GM Ultium lithium-ion battery pack, which powers a single Ultium Drive permanent magnet electric motor to produce 340 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque, resulting in a driving range estimated at 300 miles. Plugged into a DC fast fast outlet, the Lyriq will net 76 miles of range in 10 minutes, while at-home charging nets 52 miles of range per hour using the standard 19.2-kW charging module.
