SAIC-GM-Wuling, General Motors’ second joint venture in China, has just launched the Wuling Hong Guang MINI EV Macaron, a new customized version of the Asian country’s best-selling fully electric vehicle. The Hong Guang MINI EV Macaron differs from the standard variant thanks to three exclusive paint colors and more standard features.
The biggest novelty of the Wuling Hong Guang MINI EV Macaron is that it introduces a more striking and personalized appearance, with which SGMW hopes to continue winning over younger customers and especially the female audience in China. The trendy new variant of the diminutive EV stands out with its darkened LED headlights, two-tone alloy wheels and aforementioned body colors.
As a matter of fact, the Wuling brand partnered up with renowned paint maker Pantone Universe to develop the new hues for the Hong Guang MINI EV Macaron. The result is Avocado Green, Lemon Yellow and White Peach Pink, which will be used exclusively for this custom version of the minicar.
In addition to boasting a flashier appearance, the Wuling Hong Guang MINI EV Macaron receives more safety equipment compared to the base trim level, including low-speed pedestrian warning, a reversing camera with rear park sonar, a driver-side airbag and other driving aids.
Mechanically, the Hong Guang MINI EV Macaron is equipped with a small electric motor that generates 20 kW (27 horsepower) and 85 Nm (62.7 pound-feet) of torque, up from the 13-kW (17.4-horsepower) output of the base trim. Despite the more muscular powertrain, the MINI EV’s battery pack is unchanged, providing a driving range of up to 170 km (105.6 miles) on a single charge.
The new Wuling Hong Guang MINI EV Macaron is now available throughout the brand’s dealer network in China. The new variant retains exactly the same body configuration and 2+2 seating layout that makes it ideal for the urban jungle. With this launch, SGMW hopes to maintain customer interest and strengthen the MINI EV’s leadership as China’s best-selling electric vehicle.
The Wuling Hong Guang MINI EV Macaron starts at 37,600 CNY, or approximately $5,750 USD at the current exchange rate.

GM is selling these in droves.
you guys need to get your hands on one for a road test review.
Why couldn’t these be imported for the urban car sharing market? Amazing article.
Because they would never pass the safety standards.
no airbags in them is a big stumbling block
Only if your a texting liberal, not if your a GOOD driver.
Biden & Mary plan to take away large SUVs and make us drive these.
Methinks Melania is a Russian troll. Every comment a knee-jerk Jim Jordan sort of thing.
No one going to mention the Knock off Corvette logo??????
Why not let it use a Corvette emblem? Mary says that gm makes more money off of selling these cars then the C-8. Besides, they are more reliable as well.
Looks like the corvette logo if you squint and look at them from 50 feet away. Since they’re both owned by the same company, where would the problem be. It doesn’t look like it anymore that Chrylser, Bentley, and Genesis logos like each other, and no one is claiming they’re ripping each other off.
Good, leave it in China.
Golf carts in the US are nearly double what this costs at the current exchange rate..
The next Chevy Spark?
Wtf is this?! Hahaha!
That, is an incredibly successful vehicle.
Easter Eggs with wheels.
I’ve seen Americans shoehorn themselves into tight spaces to drive… seat forward for the short arms but can’t turn the steering wheel because of an obstruction rubbing the wheel, or can’t turn the neck… If this thing doesn’t have cheater warnings and truck style side mirrors, lots of wrecks… LOL
This has nothing to do with Americans, and is a top seller in China.
I’m sure it’s fine.
I beg to differ. It makes gm, an American company, money.
Demand they are delivered with curb feelers. Not the car, the driver.
does anyone know if you can get a couple sets of golf clubs in these?
